You seem like a nice enough guy, but you were wrong in the earlier threads and you are wrong now. Littering is unacceptable, especially littering of this magnitude. The fact that what you are littering is biodegradable does not change that (there could have been some synthetic feathers anyway). The fact that you don't have a problem with someone shitting in your yard does not change that. The fact that SPD might have been inefficient in cleaning it up does not change that. The fact that maybe their priorities are screwed up does not change that.

You say the feathers would have "dispersed" in the wind. Maybe true, but I have a feeling if the SPD had not cleaned this up, there would have been obvious evidence of this days or maybe even weeks later, given enough rainfall. There might still be, even with the cleanup effort. I'm willing to bet they *gave up* after 6 hours because the remaining feathers were too spread out and hard to clean up. You're right, they probably have a standard that dictates when they to do a cleanup job, and they probably stopped when they met this standard. Some feathers were undoubtedly left in the park.

The worst part is that those people probably brought feather pillows specifically BECAUSE they would break open. Yes, it makes the pillow fight more "authentic". But, they should have considered how they were going to clean up afterwards.

I don't see a lot of you praising Brooke for stepping up - ALONE, out of a group of 50 people - to take responsibility for the entire group. She voluntarily contacted the Parks department and the Mayor’s Office, apologized, and offered to pay restitution in form of community service. What more can she do for you?

From my view, Brooke has shown far more maturity and responsibility than most of you in this thread, and her pillow fights create a lot more joy than any amount of your judgmental grousing.

i think you hit the nail on the head with the stuff about, you know, it being stupid, that she should have known better, that she continues to say dump and goofy stuff. i'm going to guess that's why.

and i'm sure she'd rather do community service than have her vegan record spoiled by whatever charges they might have been considering. she's not making better, she's fixing her own wrong. (for the record, i am glad she did this, and do not think she should be charged given the effort she is now exerting.)
