Ugh. Hope you feel better, Jen. My brother and his family just got over the worst flu any of them has ever had. Seems like a bad winter.

You just described the winter of just about everyone one of my friends.

Get well soon.

I'm just heading into it, and I'm not a happy camper. Drink juice (real juice, not "juice cocktail"). I like half 100% pomegranite, half water when I'm under.

Hope you feel better soon Jen.
I had the same flu on top of a herniated disk so I was using a cane for 3 months and I had to produce a drawing show on top of all that.
I am now sitting in the Gallery in a weird post work void.
But it is all good
Like I said, I hope you get better soon.

Everyone I know has had the death flu. Make sure you get protein into you, and tons of fluids. I dragged the laptop onto the bed and watched movies off Netflix for three days.

It's been almost a month and I can still hear it in my voice, though. So don't go play Rock Band when you think you're better, it'll just set you back a few days.

I hear Airborne does wonders.

Oh, crap--getting the flu twice in one year means that there are two strains out there. Usually, a person will have sufficient immunity after the flu to prevent re-infection for the rest of the flu season, but getting it twice?? That's just icky.

Oh, and hope you feel better soon.

Sorry Jen. I hope you will be better soon. I myself have only returned to Slog since I have been able to type. I have been in a nursing home since November and went to the hospital since July of last year. Presently I have to relearn how to walk.

Feel better!

I agree about the real juice comment. Very sound advice.

@9 Airborne just lost a class action suit against them because their so-called medical research indicating efficacy were run by folks with zero credentials (and the results were negative and hidden). It's a snake oil placebo. You're better off with aspirin and Vitamin C.

So, umm, maybe someone at the Stranger should do a little story about how sick everyone has been this year: I've never had as many colds/flus/illnesses in one year. Sucks ass (hold it...maybe that's why?)

I made fun of Mr. Poe earlier today and my health has been going in a downward spiral ever since. Karma is a bitch I guess. Looks like no slog happy for most of us...for this month at least. Next one it will be spring and we should all be ready to fuck in the streets.

i'm no doctor [although i am a bit of an alarmist], but several respiratory infections [2 colds and a flu!] in the span of just over 2 months is extremely unusual. have you ruled out the possibility that you may have a chronic respiratory infection of some sort?

Posted by brandon | March 12, 2008 2:37 PM

@10, FYI, "stomach flu" (or gastroenteritis) is a totally different illness than "the flu" (influenza), which is respiratory.

There's a "now hanging" joke in here somewhere, but I haven't pinned it down yet.

Jen - you are not aged and infirm. Get some better diagnostic about why your body isn't kicking this this stuff well.

Better diet? More sleet? Sound like you are burning the candle a bit too much as well.

Water, sleep, force yourself to eat real food, and vitamin C

then a good conversation with a whole medicine doctor who is smart and skilled

(you all - FLuE SHOT - good advice, cheap too)
