The abject stupidity of people like this just amazes me. I have faith that both parents will be thrown in jail for this.

The fact that the siblings are still in the home is disturbing. The police said there was no sign of abuse, but doesn't allowing a 11 year-old girl to die from a easily treatable disease constitute neglect (and homicide!) If they had done it because they were high on meth, they would have been arrested and charged with negligent homicide, but since they claim "Jesus", it's okay.

Follow the link and read the story. The girl has three siblings that have been left in the home because "there's no reason to remove them." Other than having delusional parents that have already killed one child.

I wonder why those people don't teach their kids to pray instead of eat.

The only upside I can think of is that if Darwin is correct they'll kill off their remaining children too and spare the gene pool their inferior intellects.

My son was diagnosed 6 years ago. When symptoms of diabetes occur it is drastic. Going to the bathroom constantly, drinking massive amounts of water, extreme lethargy. He was a VERY sick boy. I couldn't imagine watching him be like that for a MONTH. The bible should be a banned book with all the harm it's caused.

And I get real tired of the, "well they've lost a child, they've suffered enough" bullshit.

@10, I've never read anything in the bible that says not to seek all treatment available or that prayer will heal everything.

What should be banned is those spreading the lies that faith heals all and that everything happens for a reason.

Of course, we need to be absolutely tolerant of these crazies--I mean, fine upstanding Christians who are acting out of sincerely held beliefs--even though a little girl ended up dead.

@3 - yeah, that's kind of my point (sarcasm often fails when it's typed) - the parents will get off with a slap on the wrist, but they should be locked up, or at the very least, forcibly sterilized.

My heart breaks when I read stories like this.

Because of the ignorance and stupidity of her parents, this little girl's life was cut short. She didn't die from cancer or from an incurable disease; she died from a condition that is manageable with treatment. She did not have to die.

In my opinion, both parents should be charged with at least manslaughter if not a flow-blown first-degree murder charge. There would also be room for charges of neglect and for child abuse. Yes, denying your child medical care is abuse - even if you're praying to Jesus or whoever else at the time.

The parents are free to choose for themselves if they need medical care; they don't have to accept it or seek it out. But when it comes to their children, they don't have that choice. Their children have a right to medical care - even if the parents themselves don't "believe" in it.

Someone, please take away from them any other children that this couple has. Spare the surviving children the same horror that their sister went through.

The mother sounds like she's about to drag the poor kid's body out to the Pet Sematary (sic). In other words, barking mad.

How does this kind of crazy differ from deciding the kid is possessed of the devil and needs to be beaten? Either way, it's child abuse based on delusion. I don't really understand why they're allowed around children at all.

If the kid didn't want treatment, the parents could force it on her. Like it or not, parents have a "right" to force medical treatment or deny it. It's pretty stupid, especially considering that, if the girl had merely died of neglect, the parents would be in jail by now.

But that's how it is, and the only way to change it is to dismantle parental rights.

The Heterosexual life style is considered "sacred" and there fore immune to any judgement. Hetero parents, as bad as these are, will be allowed to "parent" other children, why? because they made those children from their sexual life style and hence are the BEST place to keep the kids. So lay off these well meaning, God fearing people. Can't you see they're doing their best? LEAVE THESE PARENTS ALONE!!

Dont be so sure about the parents being thrown in jail. They have three other children, all teenagers, that have NOT been removed from the home because "abuse" has not been determined on the child that died.

The bible can only by severe interpolation say anything about modern medical attention. People read the book of Acts and think, "that's how it's supposed to happen" when people line the sick in the streets so Peter's shadow might pass over them or send Paul's handkerchief to bring healing, missing somehow that Acts is written by Luke, the "beloved PHYSICIAN."

@10 - you didn't say how old your son was; mine was diagnosed at age 7 1/2 and will be 17 this summer. Watch out for the new trend in diabetic kids shorting their insulin so they can be thinner. Mine's sitting in Children's Hospital/Pittsburgh as we "speak" with a bellyache they can't figure out.

Personally, I'd love to see those parents fry. Ketoacidosis is a situation where you kidneys are trying to process too much protein (which they aren't designed to do); this manner of death is extremely painful. And the authorities think that allowing their kid to linger and suffer isn't fucking child abuse?!

Come on now. If we all pray together we can resurrect the girl so she can kill her parents.
