When symptoms of diabetes occur it is drastic. Going to the bathroom constantly, drinking massive amounts of water, extreme lethargy. He was a VERY sick boy. Because of the ignorance and stupidity of her parents, this little girl's life was cut short. She didn't die from cancer or from an incurable disease; she died from a condition that is manageable with treatment. She did not have to die.

In my opinion, both parents should be charged with at least manslaughter if not a flow-blown first-degree murder charge. There would also be room for charges of neglect and for child abuse. Yes, denying your child medical care is abuse - even if you're praying to Jesus or whoever else at the time.

The parents are free to choose for themselves if they need medical care; they don't have to accept it or seek it out. But when it comes to their children, they don't have that choice. Their children have a right to medical care - even if the parents themselves don't "believe" in it.

Someone, please take away from them any other children that this couple has. Spare the surviving children the same horror that their sister went through.

Watch out for the new trend in diabetic kids shorting their insulin so they can be thinner. Mine's sitting in Children's Hospital/Pittsburgh as we "speak" with a bellyache they can't figure out.

Personally, I'd love to see those parents fry. Ketoacidosis is a situation where you kidneys are trying to process too much protein (which they aren't designed to do); this manner of death is extremely painful. And the authorities think that allowing their kid to linger and suffer isn't fucking child abuse?!
