It's so annoying that Bill Donohue has managed to become the default Catholic spokesman in the media. Liberal Catholic groups should get their act together to counteract this kind of bullshit.

I saw it cause Ian wanted to watch it, but I didn't like the humor - mostly way too angry.

Sorry, I'm more of a Daily Show person, not a Colbert Report person, this angry comedy stuff just bores me silly.

Don't let Donohue see Life of Brian.

Lewis Black is really hit or miss. He can be hilarious or just a tiresome ranter.

A little casual blasphemy is great for religion. Donohue needs to understand that we live in a pluralistic society and that people don't have to agree with him. Do your thing, guy, and let other people do theirs.

After 8 clock minutes I estimated there had been about 1 minute of program. After a few more minutes turned off the tv due to bad bad bad scripting and delivery. All the humor was contained in the debate title. Should've quit when they were ahead.

Your mother sounds like a very pleasant and well-balanced person.

Dan, YOU are the reason Donohue exists.

Lewis Black is so unfunny -- always. And that schtick about Catholics and the Pope is so hackneyed and obvious. You think that's "good stuff"? Really??

The decision was that Oprah was more evil than the Catholic Church. Truthfully, the comedian riffing on Oprah was just funnier and had better bits. The part when he claimed Oprah justified her choice to build a school in South Africa (instead of, say, Chicago) by saying that when you asked inner city kids in the U.S. whether they wanted a new school or "stuff", the kids would always choose the "stuff"--and then went to a school and offered the kids a choice between an iPod or a brand new, state-of-the-art school? That was telling, and funny. (BTW, the kids pretty much all chose the school)

I thought it was an interesting idea--give two comedians debate subjects, and let them go with Lewis Black moderating and deciding the winner. I don't know if it's scripted or not, but the hit or miss quality of some of it led me to believe that it was NOT scripted.

Just to point out, Christianity doesn't exist because one woman stuck to her story: why else would there be two complete "gospels" with no mention of the virgin birth?

Christianity exists because over 500 people at one time stuck to their story...that Jesus Christ spoke with them, taught them, ate with them after his execution. Christianity persists almost entirely on the veracity of the resurrection (see 1 Cor 15)

Is there a religion out there that doesn't have a mindless component?

it would seem the children who choose stuff over school are more in need of an education.

There is no reason to give Bob Saget's stand-up a first (or in my case, second) chance, just in case you were wondering.

Lewis Black has always been hit-or-miss. It's always his persona is funnier than his jokes or his jokes are funnier than his persona. Very rarely do the two come together for solid comedy.

I originally saw Lewis Black on some expurgated Comedy Central thing and really disliked him and thought he was not funny...then, I saw a DVD of him at the Eagle, of all places, before they went all porn, where he was allowed to be raw and uncut, and he was hilarious.

Donohue has areal affinity for Papa Ratzi. I think it goes back to when they worked the rest stops together in hopes getting a trinity thing going.

The lines were Greg Giraldo's. He's always been really funny and I've missed seeing him ever since "Tough Crowd" was canceled. Maybe the show isn't one that promises a lot of guffaws. Maybe its purpose is to call bullshit on some things - which is Lewis Black's raison d'etre.

But Dan is right, after about 10 minutes or so last night I said to myself, "This one will be gone in about four weeks."

I turned it off after the first couple of minutes too. That said, someone should ask Donahue about the news report last week of the group of people who blinded themselves looking into the sun because someone told them if they did so, they would see the Virgin Mary.

I'm from the Northeast, and I've known tons of Catholics -- hell, I've been one -- and yet, I've met very few Catholics under 60 who would strike you as the sort of Catholic most non-Catholics imagine -- or that Bill Donohue represents.

So whatever happen to the "tolerance and diversity" crap that Liberals love to throw around.

Liberals love to bash Catholics and say "Whoa its just a joke".

But when others bash "GAys and Lesbians" or Muslims or JEws. Suddenly Liberals love to preach tolerance and Diversity!
Same as do as I say not do as I do!

If you really want to know something study what the CAtholic FAith teaches.

There is a book called "How the CAtholic Church Built Western Civilization" very intresting book.

So show some respect for us! Wonder if I start bashing gays and Muslims would I get the same result!

"If you really want to know something study what the CAtholic FAith teaches"

I'm not interested in what the catholic faith teaches. Or what christians in general teach. Or even in what the bible teaches. The only ruler I use to judge christians is how they act, and you know what? I'm not impressed.

What can I say? Actions speak louder than words. Far far lounder. And seeing how angry you become when your beliefs are criticized makes me think I probably wouldn't be impressed by your actions either.

And as for gays and liberals "bashing catholics" Well, I've not heard of any christian kids killed in the past month for no other reason than simply being christian. I have however heard of two kids being killed in the past month for no other reason than simply being gay.

So, I'm siding with the people whose lives are in danger, the kids who are killed, and not the people who get bothered when their beliefs are criticized. And if you are bothered by THAT than I see no reason to respect you, or your beliefs, or even others who share your beliefs, at all.
