That's no moon...

Ah, but when spelled backwards, "Mudede" spells "Ededum," which clearly means "dumb as a fence post" when translated from the original Urdu.

Just shut up, Charles. Shut. Up.

In other news, anyone want to rent me a 2br in Cap Hill or thereabouts for

Well, I'm sure all the guest workers who build it and staff it would agree with Charles, especially when they wear those crisp uniforms and bell caps ...

Sweet Jesus... Architecture plus Star Wars?!

I think Charles just put on his O-Face.

I'm sure the people of Azerbaijan are thrilled that they're going to dump virtually all of the wealth of that country into this ridiculous thing instead of, you know, building their economy or something.

this will only succeed if they put a comic book store and a Slurpee machine in the lobby...

I don't know, looks like an earring to me.

Fire at will commander!

I think I'm starting to get Charles. After reading the combined stupidity of the stranger staff on the slog today (Dan and Ghettoization of suburbia, all owners of 4,000+ houses are scum, etc.), a post about the Death Star is both refreshing and welcome. I swear to fucking christ the slog is going to give me a stroke.

I think the building looks cool and would be a great addition to the Seattle skyline. Rather than a hotel it would be an awesome court house.

Has no one noticed the sand speeder/jabba the hut barge at the bottom of this hotel?

It looks like a snail, not the Death Star.

It looks like the cover of Pink Floyd's Pulse album:

14 seconds to construct with a loss dividend factoring in time wasted by americans snoozing online bilking a web page I'll wager....and for what?

You could walk around gasworks park on a weekend morning when the moon is coming into bloom hanging low in the sky still hung over from the news-reels of the 50's and see it for free...

p.s.

does any body notice a resemblance to the faces in the gap window downtown?

you'd think we had a terrorist living amongst us with dangerously beautiful models like that!

I don't get why everyone is pissed at Charles all the time. I like his posts a lot.

Also, I can't believe that hotel is going to exist.

so how many seconds did it take between Dan Savage seeing that picture for the first time and Dan Savage yelling out "gloryhole!"?

Damn, won't Lloyd's of London be surprised when the Rebel Alliance finds its unshielded exhaust port.....

This is all wrong, clearly this building belongs in Dubai!

It is just another version of the building in the SLOG post about Dubai from this morning. It looks like round buildings are the next "must have" for skylines.

you know, Star Wars is not that cool or interesting. it really isn't.

#1, it's NOT star-sized. it's moon-sized.
#2, the Death Star is fiction.

@20:

Apparently, these things breed or something.

Either that - or we'll see one Hell of a Godzilla-sized Pokemon battle between whatever monstrosities come out of these Pokeballs. Sure wouldn't want to be in Iran when that happens!

"I choose YOU, Bakudactyl!"

Charles there is no death star, it is all made up.

Jesus, I just love it when the pursuit of innovative design devolves in to this kind of architectural masturbation.

With all those compound curves, you'll never find a proper sofa to fit the place....

Umm... Mr. Mudede... how do I put this? You are aware that the moon is associated with all things estrous, yes?

Would the meaning of this building continue to escape you if you saw a huge condo tower thrust into that "hole"?

The Trylon and Perisphere are old, old, old!

Posted by NapoleonXIV | March 3, 2008 4:38 PM

Yeah, that occured to me too, Napoleon, only I didn't think the other building was quite "trylony" enough.

too bad there wasn't two Death Stars in existence at the same time. then Mudede could have endless dreams about gently squeezing them...

What is the power of the Mudede? What gives his drivel so much force in the constellation of our guts? The Mudede is our thought gone terribly wrong. Our thought in a state of dysentery. This dysentary is much like the one that seizes my bowels in the tradgedy of his prose. The tragedy of being daft and and shallowly well read. For the Mudede to turn void the black is the absolute incoherence.
