Is this a great photograph? Or a good photograph of a great photographer? Is the value of this photo in the name of its maker, or its subject, or in some actual artistry of construction and realization?

New York City is a small town in some ways. Pictures of famous people are hard for me to appreciate without a difficult conversation about why I like these pictures: I think People, Hello! and US magazines have eaten holes in my soul.
