I love this. Thanks for posting it.
This is so great and beautiful.
not green enough.
Too green.
Someone forgot to paint something on those green canvases.
Oh look. Giant paint swatches.
I confess I've never understood this genre of art. At all. For about $40 and a trip to Home Depot, I could paint my kitchen like that.
FUCK ANNE APPLEBY!
Boring boring boring. I've always hated her art.
"I am an artist. I can apply color in layers. Yay."
Wait, it gets better. Follow the link and observe the stark contrast between HIGHLINE COTTONWOODSMAPLE GROVE and ONTARIO SPRING.
For the record, I saw this painting the other night. The price was $20,000.
I don't get it. It looks like she stole paint samples from the Benjamin Moore paint store.
The emotional response to this is nil. I feel neither affected by it's minimalism nor intrigued by the irony of it being considered art. If there were something to grasp attention in these canvases then it might be on to something. the repetition of the theme though diminishes any impact that these could have relative to other work though.
You know, they have lots of this kind of art at Home Depot. Look in the paint department.
Only the one on the left has any artistic merit.
The others are hack-work.
holy shit, that's the best work i've ever seen!
"The others are hack-work."
Brilliant. LOL.
You don't even need to go to Home Depot to get these awesome snarky comments.
This type of art never translates well to a photograph like this. You need to see it in person. (I haven't seen this particular piece yet.) Of course it looks like a paint swatch in this reproduction. But I'm going to guess it does not when you see the actual work.
by clicking on the link I can now see the artistic merit of the piece, but I would bet it's different in real life.
Yes, you could have gone to Home Depot and made art like that.
But you didn't.
That's why it's called art.
selling them again with a profit. The capital employed in this manner yields time of peace, to accumulate gold and silver, that when occasion
