I agree that the equation is stupid. I mean, the sex worker never went on national tv repeatedly spewing racist bullshit.

Oh she (Kristen) totally wants someone to throw it in her butt. I can feel it.

Dear god that stinks.

Please alert your Shakespeare Sisters and Feministingers.

But, in fairness, I don't think Ferarro is a woman. I sure hope not anyways.

Aren't there four different stories on that page? I see 4 bylines and four separate story titles.

yes, 4 different stories, 4 separate titles, but one hideous headline. good grief.

I'm pretty sure that when you dust off that resume of yours and try your hand at real journailsm you will get a real lesson in "class."

As in, Journalism Ethics 101.

Until then, carry on with your pot meeting kettle act.

I don't get it. What's the beef here? That newspapers sometimes make lame-ass connections merely because shit happens on the same news cycle day? Uh, no shit.

Remember in 1997 all those pictures of Mother Teresa and Princess Diana together merely because they both croaked during the same news cycle? Remember a couple years ago when we got numerous JOHN RITTER and JOHNNY CASH stories because they died on the same day?

Yeah baby!!!!

We know the stories we know... and I don't know her and she's just what I asked for a couple of seconds ago on the swedish blond on blond tour of the stranger...Thank you god for the only front page story to add my real question for the day ....

Page A 6 of Thursday's (today March 13th, 2008) Investors Business Daily
has a story in it about wireless meter technology reading capabilities.

Itron Inc.

Does this technology work accurately and is it reliabe or will we end up losing money as consumers by experianced hackers or fraud at some telecommunication level?

(I.E.) IS THIS LEGALIZED THEFT FOR THE UNIFORMED BILL VOTER????!!!!

And please, no jokes about Will i am Bill Gates of Microsoft without the William Gates of The United States Military giving me my due process and back pay or handshake from George W. Bush and Dick Cheney as an apology for being a citizen artist of the United States of America whos family or friends may have been supportive and now are ostracized under durress from 9-11 and the b.s. that followed the FISA court fiasco.

That poor call girl doesn't deserve to be placed in the same bucket with someone as slimy and unfit for polite society as Geraldine Ferraro.

More good news for John McCain. Keep it up, Dems.

i just think eliot spitzer's wife has endured enough humiliation. do they really need to point it out in the headline?

@12 is right. ...Those women all have something in common. They are the epitomy of the intelligence in the Donkey Party! Go McCain!

I can't understand why anyone would pay 5000 bucks for such a cheesy looking woman. The clubs of Belltown and any other small urban center are awash with such banality and all for the price of a couple of drinks and cabfare.

I think 'Gerry' can be classified as a whore, though no offense to sex workers is intended.

Women aren't allowed to have four stories. They only get one.

Just like in the old days when there was only a Women's Page.

Hey Erica, remember when that kid got killed becuase he was riding a fixed-gear bicyle and then the Stranger printed his death in its "49 Best Deaths" just 6 weeks later?

That was real classy! Thanks!

This One's the Dumps

A man. A bicycle. A dump truck. Simple physics informs us that when any two of these elements collide—especially at speed—the smaller of the two (man, bicycle) will leave nary a dent upon the larger (dump truck). Indeed, this is precisely how events unfolded for a Colorado man in Seattle, whose bike ride with a friend on September 7, 2007, turned from leisurely to tragic. The location was the intersection of Fuhrman Avenue East and Eastlake Avenue East, which, with more than half a dozen accidents in the past three years, is certainly number one on our list of "Best Places to Get Killed on a Bike in Seattle"!

Fatalities: 1

The point is it's stupid to have one headline and to connect all these stories because they're women. (WOW! Women in the news??!! Women affecting politics??!!)

The headline is beyond stupid too.

Well, of course, it's the MSM.

Not like more than half of our electeds are women around here ...

@4 Ferraro may not have any estrogen left, but she's still just as much woman as the whore above the fold. (And her judgment's just as poor, to boot.)

@21 I don't see the connection.

I doubt ECB was behind the black humor @18. Not her style.

I do like ECB's style. Preach on.

@15 - Discretion. Had the wire transfers not alerted the feds, the Empire Club probably would have kept its mouth shut for a long time, and the Spitzer story wouldn't have broken until shortly after Spitzer had won the Democratic Party presidential nomination in 2016 or 2020.

I've said it before on here, and I'm happy to say it again: Didn't write that. Wasn't even in town. Had no part in that issue.

It ran in your paper. You report and collect a paycheck from the same paper (that makes bank selling ads to escorts).

So before you get all preachy about class, you might want to think that through.

I think those of you who are evaluating whether that woman is worth $1000 an hour based on how pretty she is or isn't are rather missing the point. She's getting paid for skills.

Whores, bitches, and punching bags. The PI view of women in America. Shocked the shit out of my wife at the breakfast table.

Funny, I was offended by that too. But I think it wasn't fair to have Silda in that lineup. Ferraro: caused a scandal. Power: caused a scandal. "Kristen": at the center of a scandal. Spitzer: sad, innocent bystander to a scandal. It's she who doesn't belong.

Posted by annie | March 13, 2008 2:41 PM

i agree with annie. it should have been a large photo of spitzer to replace both silda and kristin. now, i can understand why they went with kristen over elliot... everyone wanted to see what a skillful $1000 prostitute looked like. but silda? even though i don't think they were trying to say they were all equivalent (!=), that's the part that makes you wonder...

Geraldine Ferraro wouldn't be where she is today if she weren't a woman. She'd probably be just another mediocre former Democratic candidate for VP, with no pedestal whatsoever from which to practice profoundly back-asswards identity politics.

I can't wait to see what Shrillary's campaign says when Obama announces he's picked ">the real Geraldine as his running mate...

Sorry about the bad HTML @31. Okay, this time for real:

I know I'm like, slog late to the party, but is it just me or do Kristen and Silda have similar facial features? Much like Ms. McCain and the lobbyist not too long back there.

I don't think it's so much that they're reporting on four women at the same time, so much as they're making a connection (and a crude sexual one with the poorly chosen headline, although I doubt it was intentional... actually, I'll bet it was) based largely on the fact that they are A, female, and B, vaguely connected to politics. Ah, that's a story! Women in political scandals.

At least, that's what I got out of this?
