When will the oversized SUV crash begin? Seems like global warming coupled w/ realizing you're an asshole for driving one is enough to make a person not buy one before they decide they don't need that Eames chair.
It's not just furniture, it's all durable goods. If economic circumstances are sucking, then people can postpone many such purchases indefinitely. Keep the old shitty fridge running, the old jalopy, and the old sofa that you sorta hate, but it still serves its purpose. Nobody suffers directly, but collectively it's a downward spiral of economic doom.
That reminds me of something I saw on Yahoo!Answers or something: Someone posted asking "If the US collapsed, what else around the world would fall?" And someone replied, "Well, Canada would fall on Mexico."
Will@16: How do you know that -now- is a good time to buy, as opposed to a year from now, when everything will have crashed another 30 or 40 percent in value?
@17 - because you all gave up on them. I didn't say this actual day, I mean sometime between now and say end of June.
And my favorite furniture were the eggshell cup seats my Aunt used to have at her place, as well as some TV-viewing "cups" (nice and fluffy) she had as well.
Damn you are so alarmist.
Stop getting ahead of yourself the world is not going to end because someone cant sell copies 60's styled furniture in the US.
You might be heading into some form of recession in the US but here in Canada we are not. We have a strong economy which is usually dictated by the US economy but not any more.
Blame it on Bush.
At this point most things seem dismal in the US. But there is hope because there are people that still believe in how great the US can be. Most of my friends in the US think this and I think this to. It is still one of my favorite places to visit. So be a little more optimistic k!
Furniture crisis, Human crash ????? Does not mean the end.
Humans live outside the US to you know.
It's a quick and slippery slope from not being able to afford that Herman Miller chair you've always wanted, to lawlessness, and then to degeneracy and cannibalism.

. . . world might recover eventually? Probably not, but a guy can hope.
...gradual come down from all that pot you must be smoking?
OH NOES!
After the furniture crash, what will we have to sit on?
@3
Our asses, until the inevitable ass market crash.

...hopefully your posting abilities will crash

I don't know, @5; it seems like I see more of them every day, even now. I don't understand it; the things are just WRONG.
Think of all the trees saved - the ones that will decrease global warming and pollution.
It's a good thing.
I'm to in love with the girl in the picture to care about this post.
Sorry Charlie
@2:
Otherwise known as, "the Mudede Crash".
Will is rooting for economic collapse. Good to know.

Well I learned my lesson after Grandpa was taken out by that ol' chiffarobe in the Great Furniture Crash of '87.
The cup can be half empty or it can be half full.
Now's a good time to buy REITs, actually.

half empty or half full, a cup isn't technically furniture.

I couldn't agree more.

Not to worry, -B-, we won't impact you like we did Australia and the EU ...
