Middle America won't understand or care. (i.e., no story here.)

I read the Mother Jones thing a month ago. It's a hack job piece full of innuendo from "close Clinton family friends." There's no smoking gun.

You can't all call yourselves The Family. You've got your Children of God, your Mansons, your ELF terrorists, and now Hillary's church. It's just arrogant to think your family is The Family. Unless they all really are the same family...?

Jeff Sharlet, incidentally is the guy who pointed out to everyone that something major was up with Ted Haggard long before the sex scandal went down.

He's one of the nation's best religion journalists.

There's still no story here. So she's a Bible-thumper? Big whoop. If anything, that will endear her to the unwashed masses.

Holy Shit!!!!

"Citing Hitler, Lenin, and Mao, the Family's current leader declares, "We work with power where we can, build new power where we can't.""

"According to the Fellowship's archives, the spirit has in the past led its members in Congress to increase U.S. support for the Duvalier regime in Haiti and the Park dictatorship in South Korea. The Fellowship's God-led men have also included General Suharto of Indonesia; Honduran general and death squad organizer Gustavo Alvarez Martinez; a Deutsche Bank official disgraced by financial ties to Hitler; and dictator Siad Barre of Somalia, plus a list of other generals and dictators. Clinton, says Schenck, has become a regular visitor to Coe's Arlington, Virginia, headquarters, a former convent where Coe provides members of Congress with sex-segregated housing and spiritual guidance."

Not only has this already been well publicized, it's pretty much a non-issue. So they have a Christian bible study group in Congress...did you ever have any doubt that membership would be slanted in favor of Republicans?

I'm a little startled by the rampant scorn certain Clinton supporters have shown today towards the people they expect to reverse Obama's lead in the popular vote. I've seen several references to "unwashed masses" and "Joe Lunchpail" when referencing blue collar democrats. It'd be one thing if we were talking about the fundamentalist homophobes that make up the current base of the Republican party, but talking that way about a significant portion of one's own base seems a little, well, Republican. I'm not trying to start a "our supporters are better than your supporters" argument. Just...think about how you're talking about your own people.

Oh, there are plenty of Republican and independent "unwashed masses" out there, Beguine. I wasn't necessarily referring to our beloved fellow Democrats.

Hmmm... I wonder why the Stranger has not published the latest poll numbers showing that Obama is now tanking. Were you really that naive to think this wouldn't happen?

Congratulations, Blue Bloods, you have successfully f***ed the party again. Voters in 2 of the most important swings states have been disenfranchised. Dems have wasted millions because the blue bloods made a a well-orchestrated play for the primary with no regard for the general election. It's 1972 all over agin.

McGovern, Dukakis, Bradley, Dean, now Obama

Johnson, Carter, Clinton

Anyone else seeing a pattern?

Obama Leads McCain 48% to 43% In Latest CBS News Poll
http://www.thepresidentialcandidates.us/obama-leads-mccain-48-to-43-in-latest-cbs-news-poll/242/

You mean the newest poll where he beats McCain by seven points.

As in seven point lead.

Pretty nice pattern.

I hate to burst your bubble, but that CBS poll was conducted from March 15 to March 18 BEFORE the Rev Wright fiasco became widely publicized.

The most recent Gallup poll has Hillary at 48% and Obama at 43% AND both are losing to McCain.

clinton attending an all-female private bible study might endear he to more people. seriously. this will make her seem like "one of us" to the religious crowd -- a crowd that largely participates in gender-segregated small group private bible studies.
