A Belated, “Good Morning”

posted by on March 14 at 12:57 PM

Liveslogging from w7ngman’s apartment…

It’s noon, and I have finally, thankfully outslept my hangover. Good lord.

Since Sven dropped the ball on Slog Happy, here are a few observations:

1. Havana has much more seating, and much more space, though it was so dark I began to wonder if they were trying to tell us something.

2. The drink specials weren’t quite as generous as they were at Moe Bar. Not that my liver noticed, but my wallet was complaining.

3. Where was everybody? It’s been more populated at Slog Happies past. Although everyone I wanted to see was there, for the most part.

4. As was noted earlier, TSM is better-looking than I expected.

5. Who was that girl on the laptop in the corner? I meant to talk to her, but then I didn’t, and then she left before we started talking about her.

6. Mr. Poe left too early. I’d like to see him with a few shots in him. There was no leg-humping that I observed, though Dan did leave pretty early, as well…

7. Paul Constant is still one of the most likable people I’ve ever met.

That’s all, really. I got pretty sauced, received a very enthusiastic hug from NaFun, was generally impressed with everyone, and left to go drink more. Why do some of you refuse to come to these things?

Paul Constant fucking rules.

I left early because I had to "work on Freaky Friday posts".

I refuse to attend because I'm in fucking Missouri.

The girl on the laptop moved here with her boyfriend - he works for a game design firm and she used to go to NYU upstate.

It was her first time there.

I really want to go to these, but a) I live far away in the other C. Hill (Crown) and b) other activities and events keep happening to be on the same day. I'll make it one of these days, I swear!

Paul Constant does rule. i even capitalized his name properly in a show of the respect he deserves.

And I'm REALLY on the other Capitol Hill. The one in Denver. With a real Capitol on it.

oh, i didn't meet mr poe or get to see how tsm is more attractive than i guess his writing leads us to believe.

next time i hope to not have a conflict of interest like levi, and be able to stay longer than just a brief appearance. one that, apparently, no one remembers anyways.

So, @7, how is Cheesman Beach holding up? Haven't cruised the johns there in quite awhile, myself.

I would have come, but my head is an explosive snot factory at the moment. I kind of look like that valentine you have me at the last one, just a giant red throat. Trust in this: its not the sloggers it was me.

My eyes aren't focusing right this morning. Also, I got up at 3:50 this morning and have been at work since slightly before 5. Wish the group heading to Bill's Off Broadway wasn't leaving right as you showed up.

It was quite a pleasure seeing all you lovely, snarky folks again. Looking forward to meeting more of you next time.

Mike in MO @ 3,

Come on out, mi amigo. The weather will be fantastic in May and June.

There was definitely a price to pay this morning.

Was fun, tho. And Amy Kate gave me a t-shirt!

1)Long lean bars are more festive than square bars. It's a phallic thing.
2)People who live out of state in horrid places: move. immediately.
3)Aislinn is cute as pie.
4)But what is she doing in some strange man's apartment at 1 o'clock in the afternoon?

I was, frankly, rather impressed by the service level last night; it was the first time I've ever been in Havana (which hasn't been all that often, admittedly) when they had two bartenders on-shift, which made the wait time for beverages quite tolerable.

And I think it was the first time I've been able to stick around for the entire evening, or at least until the 8:00 p.m. drink special cut-off, so that was nice, as was the fact that there was good representation by The Stranger staff this time around. Had a grand time conversing with Mssrs. Kiley, Savage & Schmaeder re: theatre history.

(Confidential to Mr. Ryan: my email addy can be found on my blog site, which is linked to my handle below. Drop me a line about that story we were discussing.)

But, I would still campaign in favor of a venue that serves actual victuals; my stomach, and liver, and brain - heck, ALL my internal organs - are always so much happier when I can drink and eat at the same time.

I pussed out at the last minute - I had a birthday party to attend later and didn't want to end up too sloshed, which certainly would've happened.

Next time, Gadget, next time...

@14: What does that even mean? Was Batman also in attendance?

I was going to a show later and having dinner with some friends, otherwise... yeah. I do want to meet you-- See you next month!

I plan on coming, it just hasn't worked with my schedule yet. Will drive down one of the next times and make a weekend out of it.

Speaking of which, I will be in Seattle later this month for the first time in a real long while.

Yes, Aislinn is indeed cute. And much cuteness all around the Stranger staff. You should all show up for Slog Happy more.

the thing that w7ngman and I have in common is having sex with Aislinn, if that wasnt clear.

@36: Who is that supposed to make happy?

For the record, folks, I met BA in real life, before he was an active Slogger. This was not a case of being won over by the rapier wit he exercises here every day.

Also, while I'm making unnecessary clarifications, w7ngman and I did not have sex. I crashed here because we got trashed, and I was cold so I'm wearing his sweatshirt. Thanks.

I would have shown up, but I'm in Anaheim. I also would have shown up to comment on Slog more, but I was busy being overwhelmed by natural products.

Also having drinks. I had a maple mojito!

The girl in the corner was me! I was trying to convince another Slog reader to come too, and then I didn't want to leave my laptop alone and thus was stuck in one spot. I'm coming next time, minus the computer. It was great to meet a bunch of you!
Having been to both Havana and Moe while a bunch of Sloggers were there, I do prefer Havana.
