Justice? For being implicated in a crime he didn't commit? Sure don't smell like justice.

In anticipation of the wave of antiknife sentiment this will unleash, I'm going to say that we simply need to enforce the knife control laws we already have.

@ 2: Puh-leaze! The guy had it coming to him...look at his LONG history of violence against women and anyone else he felt he could intimidate. He may not have killed Shannon Harps, but he would probably end up doing something just as heinous at some point, based on his track record.

Someone did us all a favor.

Paul Kersey, are you out there?

I think I'm going to have to take a vacation from the news. Too many people getting stabbed. - whether they had it coming or not, jesus christ.

I just realized that I've gotten to the point where I simply cannot keep track of which young cute white city-residing murdered female Slog is posting about from day to day.

In other news, the guy who killed not-young, not-white, not-Seattle-residing murdered female Darrell Miller turned himself in last week.

Dexter did it.

The PI article is much better, if only because it contains this line:

"A man who lived nearby called 911 after hearing what sounded like a body hitting the ground."

How many of you would notice and recognize the sound of a body hitting the ground?!

Good riddance. He clearly was a waste of life.

@3: Clearly we need some more Knife-Free Zones.

Lame. The death penalty is always wrong, even for psycho assholes who take a life. Better to let justice get served properly and have him spend the rest of his pitiful little life in jail than give him an exit out.

@4, Maybe he didn't deserve to live, and @11, perhaps he was a waste of life, but no-one should be allowed to make that choice for anyone else.

Out of curiosity what are our knife control laws? Can someone show me to the right direction? Thanks...

The photo of the guy looks exactly like the suspect sketch released after the Capitol Hill stabbing. Its uncanny!

Sad. And scary.

What if this was coincidence?

And...

...what if it wasn't?

Be careful out there. Please.

@13/23 - I don't think its a matter of should decide for other people but rather can with any reasonable amount of accuracy or lack of bias. There are plenty of rabid dogs out there that this society and prison would be better off without. The problem is there will always be mistakes or intentional entrapment. there will be cases without doubt but on a system level it is clear that too many end up on death row who are not guilty. However, my exception would be for war crimes. Heads of state who give the orders, they should swing.

That guy? Wasn't he the same person the Slog pretty much tried and found guilty when you announced this?

@24: Precisely. Should not because we can not.
Personally I'd prefer to see a criminal head of state incarcerated for the rest of hir life, not dead.

I worked with the guy. His life outside work...I have no idea. But to me he was always a cordial and kind person. It is surreal that this happened. And we all have past mistakes...it sucks that his are the main item in the postings about his death.

I am glad someone here is posting who used to know Mr. Ball. He was a very good person when not under the the influence of drugs/alcohol. His violent side I knew that too but when not he was one of nicest/honest/charismatic people i will ever know!! I will miss him forever! He will be our Guardian Angel!! I love You Baby!!!!!
