Watcha Doing Tonight?

posted by on February 22 at 16:42 PM

There’s a bug going around editorial—several staffers are out sick or “sick” or are MIA today… here’s what the dedicated skeleton crew claims to be doing this evening:

“Barbecuing and then going to Jules Maes in Georgetown to play pool.”
“Checking out the Belltown bar scene, starting at Queen City Grill.”
“Lifting weights until I feel like I’m going to throw up.”
“Going to a bar to look at a pretty woman.”
“Going to West Seattle, to Talarico’s to eat a slice of pizza as big as my head, then CD shopping at Easy Street.”
“Seeing WET’s new show, Mr. Marmalade.”
“Watching Narc on DVD—the cinematography is supposed to be great.”
“Either seeing Drop Dead Gorgeous at Central Cinema or Be Kind, Rewind.”

And you?

Finding the house party, crashing the house party, drinking at the house party, talking to girls at the house party, leaving the house party, and then moving on.

Your mom, natch.

Nothing against Sonic Boom, but the person headed to Talarico's should do their CD shopping at Easy Street, cause it's right there. And it's rad.

Oh! Yes, sorry, he said Easy Street but I was thinking about breakfast at Sonic Boom and confused the two... Fixed.

I'm curious, doe the person "going to a bar to look at a pretty woman" have a particular woman in mind?  or is the plan to seek a candidate on arrival?

Going to a bar to hang out with Obama fans, some of whom are pretty women.

Speaking of which, 15 minutes to go ... before Obama Happy Hour at the Contour, 807 First Ave.

(was that Charles?)

Drop Dead Gorgeous is one of the truly great, truly underrated black comedies of all time.

Kristy Alley should have gotten an Oscar nomination for her work in that movie.

Best line: "Fucking beauty queens blowing chunks everywhere."

@ 9: naw, I'm going home to your wife and kids.

Jk. But really, what's wrong with people not being married and not having bred? I'm enjoying my single, kid-free lifestyle. It sounds like you think we're supposed to be your idea of people. You vote Huckabee, don't you.

Rock Band party/BBQ, hosted by a certain Slog commenter's older sister. The first half hour will be filled with mental self-flagellation for not studying for a history test, they I plan on being distracted by a stiff drink. I will be partaking in the BBQ, probably not so much in the Rock Band. I suck at public humiliation.

@9: I have a spouse, I go out with the spouse (I stopped chaining him up in the kitchen months ago). I enjoy 10 hours' sleep, therefore I have no kids.

Kiefer Sutherland and I have a date tonight, he's going to show off his rescuing skillz to me and I am going to show off my keen observation skillz.

Unless I get over to Monotonix. I might have to go over there just to get a hot dog from the cart, actually.

Who in The Stranger offices is lifting tonight?

We generally lift/run at 6 a.m. It's not very fun but it's the best time.

And who would want to lift on a Friday night?

We had fun at Contour, and there are pics on the Facebook group for Washington Obama Delegates - even if one of my friends somehow couldn't find us there (it was packed). Sorry I missed the other events, but I parked far away (amusing, used to work in that building ...).
