Jesus fucking Christ! Hillary is actually using Karl Rove Tactics?? Sorry, I do not care, if she gets the nomination I WILL VOTE FOR NADER. She just lost any support I had for her. And any self respect she had for herself she flushed down the toilet with that ad.

She pussed out -- should have ended the ad with a turbaned Obama lookalike slitting the kids' throats

of course, hillary has caller i.d., so if it's cuba or pakistan on the other line, she'll just go back to bed.

also, why is the phone ringing in the cute kids bedroom?
cute kid's mom: "what the fuck, hillary? for the last time, will you stop calling my kids for foreign policy solutions at 3 a.m.?"

Why is the mom in the add sneaking around at 3am fully dressed?

Hillary does NOT want you to vote your fears when you fear that she has no chance against McCain. If you like her, ignore that fear and go with hope.

But now when it comes to this different fear, that there are scary dark men out to defile your cute pigtailed white daughter, well, that's a whole other fear. That's the fear Hillary's talking about.

But don't get carried away; you'll end up voting for McCain if you get too scared. See fear #1 as cited above.

The ad is right on. We need a wise hawk in the White House, not a naive lefty rookie dove. McCain fits that bill, then Hillary.

Jesus fucking Christ! Hillary is actually using Karl Rove Tactics??

Actually, I think this is more of a Lyndon Johnson technique. All it needs is a daisy and a mushroom cloud.

@12, you are right, and she WAS a Goldwater Girl so maybe this is some sort of delayed revenge?

For the sake of the kids, Vote For Hillary. If she loses, the terrorists win!

Maybe she could work a mushroom cloud into the commercial?

(Actually, Mark Penn mis-heard Hillary and thought she said to make a commercial "targeting sucker-moms")

Cash that paycheck soon, Penn...

Okay, its official. I hate her. Jesus Fucking Christ. I've spent the last six months trying saying how great she is, how lucky the Dems are to have her even though I am an Obama supporter.

This ad is so slimey and gross. Way to make the point that there really is no difference between Bush/Clinton/Bush/Clinton dynasty Hillary....you're disugusting.

The only thing it needs to make it Karl Rove-style offensive is Obama in a turban.

Levislade @11: Ugh. "Someone who knows the world leaders"? Like that "Medvadavov or whatever" guy?

Just what I was thinking. Not only could she hardly spit out Medvedev's name at the debate, but she tried to go on for a minute or two answering the question without ever mentioning his name--like she was hoping no one would notice. It took Russert explicitly asking her the guy's name for her to even try to butcher it.

More to the point though. How much value is there really in knowing the world's leaders? Aren't such little things like wisdom and judgment and fortitude a little more important than having a Bill Richardson-size Rolodex when it comes to dealing with a crisis? Does anyone seriously think Putin/Medvedev or Hu Jintao or Musharraf is going to move one millimeter because the president of the United States happens to be on a first-name basis with them?

I'm sold. You know, I never thought of it before, but I can just imagine the White House phone ringing in the middle of the night. It's a really old house, so it's probably in the entry hall or something (although maybe there's an extension upstairs.).

I can see Hillary getting up, Bill in bed next her, snoring. She'd be in her nightgown, with her hair in curlers and all that coldcream and stuff on her face. Maybe some of those pink fuzzy slippers. Or maybe she wears socks to bed. Those old houses can be drafty.

Anyway, she'd know what do do. Those kids would be safe. If it were Obama, who knows? He might sleep right through that phone call, and we'd all wake up dead. I hear he's a very deep sleeper.

haaaaahahaha. That's almost better than the "Dude, Hillary quit the band commercial," except I don't think this was meant to be funny. I agree with the point, but man....whose idea was that?

All the fake outrage here is the fuel that's geting me through the rest of my day. Thanks, SLOG!

If you think that this is fearmongering than you are a nitwit- it's just an attempt to play the experience card- I suspect a fairly successful one. Will it work with Obama fans? No, but you're not the target audience.

Good thing Obama didn't stoop to the same tactics... oh wait, he did. He released an ad that copied Hillary's... but then that's nothing new, now is it. And what's his stance on foriegn policy again? Oh, that he didn't vote for the war when he didn't even have the option to vote for or against it... a decision which, back in the day before his presidential ambitions, he said that he was unsure of how he would vote. Hillary is hitting on experience here.

BTW, the mushroom cloud/daisy video is a far cry from what she ran as an ad. More appropriately would be the Johnson ad, with the phone ringing. And it's a sensible argument to make. She has dealt with numerous countries and leaders. That's just a fact, she has. Why shouldn't she claim that as a credential that separates her from Obama.

(And for the record, as a soldier, I support Hillary Clinton's vote for the war. She reviewed the presented evidence, as well as testimony by Colin Powell, and made the same vote as both Edwards and Kerry, not to mention numerous other Democrats. She also expressed caution and warning with her vote. Let's get the whole story about her stance. And for Obama, he's already starting to back peddle on his Iraq stance. Ever since the exchange with McCain he's been making it more and more of an issue that we will stay only if it's necessary... that a group of soldiers will remain in Iraq to secure it... he's gone from saying America will leave Iraq within a year's time - which he had to say to match Hillary - to what he's now saying, that America will not allow Iraq to fall, even if it means leaving soldiers - which is what McCain is saying. However, having less soldiers there is the wrong thing to do, as in either get them out or make them stay, but don't leave them vulnerable and more undermanned then they are already... which is why we have stop loss... which just happened to me...).

Which brings me to one last thing. I will admit that this guy is incredibly smart and has a great personality... but he was only in the senate for one year before running for president and has no foriegn policy experience. I would have loved to of had it with Hillary in '08 and Obama in 2016, potentially 16 years of strong Democratic candidates (being the first woman and African-American an added plus). However, because he chose to go the route he has... which I still don't see why... he has split the party (and it is his fault, did he not think there would be a huge fight against a political powerhouse like Hillary Clinton) that may cost the Democrats the House at a time when the Republicans should be a guaranteed loss. I'm an independent, however, if the Democrats should manage to screw up this election, I'll have to keep my eyes towards non-conservative Republicans, because I'm tired of the DNC's incompentence.

Here's for Hillary in TX & OH to make a comeback in '08!

Meh@37, most Americans feel the US is much more threatened in 2007 than it was in 1992. Bill wouldn't be able to run on "It's the Economy, Stupid" today. And if he did, he wouldn't win. Remember how 5 of the 6 big Dem candidates this year were Senators not Governors?
