Correction: There was no filibuster. There was some sort of lame-ass gentleman's agreement not to filibuster. Even Dodd went along with this bullshit.

@1 - where are you getting that? 29 Senators voted not to end debate, and I'm sure Dodd was one of them. There was no filibuster because they didn't have the 41 votes to sustain one.

Also, this sucks.

Seems like all of HRC's "experience" and "political expertise" would have told her to get her ass in there and vote on one of the most important bills of the year...

Oh wait, she's too busy trying to put out all of the fires that are slowly turning the foundation of her campaign to ashes...

Has Clinton ever voted on FISA?

Dude. Fuck Clinton. Seriously fuck her.

Hello get out of jail free card for one of the most egregious violation of privacy rights in the history of the US of A.

FUCK FUCK FUCK HER.

This just further supports why I am supporting Obama. Hillary will do anything to make sure she has political cover. And I mean ANYTHING.

And no this is not hatred of Clinton just an observation.

Dodd should have filibustered.

Maybe it wouldn't have mattered in this instance, but I'm pretty peeved about the no-filibuster agreement that was struck regarding FISA:

obama & clinton both voted for the patriot act

votes for the war, votes to declare iranian special forces terrorits, doesn't vote against immunity for telcos (didn't she rag on obama for missed votes?).

it's like she thinks we're too stupid to notice.

voting for obama is an accountability moment, and it's our opportunity to show these politicians that this kind of "leadership" is not acceptable.

Dodd said that he is waiting to see if the House can stop this. If telecom immunity exists in the final bill, he promises to filibuster it:

Also, i totally agree with #5. Fuck Hillary. DC and Virginia vote today, she cold have easily been in town to vote and get some campaigning in. She most likely stayed in Texas to keep up the appearance that she doesn't care about today's primaries.

But--but--pointing out that Hillary didn't even bother to show up is *sexist*, people! You know that!

In defense of Hillary (even though I'm an Obama alternate delegate), she was a cosponsor of the amendment that was defeated, along with Obama and Kennedy and Feingold et al. Our WA Senators deserve some praise for their rare courage in spite of the depressing outcome.

I think Sen Clinton wanted to vote Present, but she wasn't, so it didn't count.

maybe this was just a caucus vote and all those "political activist" senators had time to cast a vote, whilst Senator Clinton was hard at work in her real job and couldn't take the time to caucus with the others?

It's blatant discrimination I say

Wasn't this an ACLU strategy to give cover to Senators that actually voted. Much like choice in Il.

This being probably my number one issue, this damns her in my eyes. Obama's the only candidate with a real awareness of the damage being done to our legal rights in the name of antiterrorism, and he's the only candidate that understands how technology plays a crucial role in our future liberties.

Maybe Obama's "integrity" is just a front, but at this point it'd be a damn convincing front.

It's sexist to point out that HRC is a lameass corporate shill.

But wait, this must be wrong, i mean HRC is all about substance and action and experience, and Obama is only about great speaches, and hope and other fluffy stuff, right? Im SO confused!

She couldn't show up and vote for immunity like she wanted to because she knows she wouldn't have a chance in the upcoming primaries.

there is a lot of misinformation here.

1) obama was NOT present to vote

2) the cloture of the bill results link is below, and is different from the passage link posted by Niable:
http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=110&session=2&vote=00019

3) the bill still has to go through the House, so even though it is likely to pass it isn't final

4) it seems like people writing here don't really understand what a filibuster is, you cant filibuster if there is a supreme majority. (three fifths of the senate) supreme majority invokes cloture, or causes the debate to close automatically.
