If I seem inundated with Clinton spin this evening, it's because I am. The Obama campaign has been largely silent today, at least on the email front. Meanwhile, the Clinton camp has been sending out "Hillary Wire" updates throughout the day, and is sending out "talking points" after each poll closing and/or state call. With that in mind, here's what I just received from camp Clinton under the subject heading, "UPSET OF THE NIGHT - MASSACHUSETTS FOR CLINTON": One of the biggest surprises of the night is Massachusetts. Despite the fact that Senators Ted Kennedy and John Kerry were actively...

Barack Obama was never expected to win Mass. That's bullshit. It did break for Clinton by a larger margin than she was expecting, so she'll pick up a few of the delegates that she lost in Illinois and Georgia (where Obama won bigger than expected).

They're still tied, people.

HRC campaign is getting called out all over the TV right now for this spin job. Obama was polling there at about 22%. So since he is running at 39%, it is an upset, for Obama. He is getting more delegates there than expected.

Even the Slog is full of spinmeisters...Obama's losses are really victories in disguise. And Clinton's wins are really less than expected. Please give me a break. What was really important was the 17 voters in Iowa and New Hampshire. Is this any way to pick a candidate?

NPR also just reported that one of the surprising things about her win in NY was how much money Clinton spent there and the huge get out the vote effort they mounted. They found it surprising that she had to campaign as hard as she did (noting that Obama barely ran an ad in Illinois).

It's a Northeast thing if anything. While they may not necessarily "like" Clinton as a person, they are more familiar with her record than Obama's who is in Illinios. And she actually does have a decent record as a Senator in New York (which she will NEVER get credit for).

It's a Northeast thing. People are more focused on a competent person to a do a job and not necessarily a likable one. And I have to admit, Hilliary isn't the easiest person to like.
