I was watching Elizabeth: The Golden Age earlier this week and embedded in that visual hit-and-miss extravaganza was a performance so natural the likes of which we don't see very often. Cate is SUCH a joy to watch. Can that kind of talent ever be learned and refined or are some just born with it?

She blows me away.

MS: He liked it enough. It's not really a movie that lands properly on first viewing, but he definitely got a taste of what the hell makes me love it so much.

She was the only good part of that movie, really. Funny, classy, dead-on Dylan. Everytime they shifted to a different "Dylan" scene I'd cringe a little.

No, I'd have to disagree with you, Jo Marie. I liked the Heath Ledger section, too, but not so much because of Heath. I thought Charlotte Gainsbourg was brilliant as his wife.

The Richard Gere part was dreadful.

I didn't realize that I loved I'm Not There until a couple days after I saw it. Now I think it was one of my favorites of 2007.

I even felt a surprising amount of affection for the Richard Gere parts. I expected them to be silly and embarrassing, but I think that they actually pulled the whole thing together.

There's such an embarrassment of riches competing for BS Actress. If Ruby Dee wins, she'll hold the record for least screen time performance. Previous record holder: Beatrice Straight ("Network").

Tilda Swinton is simply amazing and has been overlooked in the past. Amy Ryan was so good, you were furious she got her baby back, knowing she'd lose her again. Also wanted to kill Saoirse for being such a conniving bitch - oops, sorry - bitch word solely reserved for Hillary.

But Blanchett made me think I could have actually wanted to sleep with Dylan. Now that's acting!!
