Obama Drama: He supported pot decriminalization in 2004, but he opposed it in 2007; then this week his campaign said he always supported it, but as of yesterday he opposed it again. Doughnuts as Life Preservers: Starbucks to close 100 stores, discontinue sales of dry sandwiches. People Still Drink Folgers: Who knew? Private to Humanity: Please stop emailing me this story. Up in Smoke: Cops searching for stolen stash. Colombian Drug Lord: Found dead in Venezuela. Heartening News: FDA approves coated stent. Handcuffed to Beds: Russia’s take on cold turkey.

I really want to comment on the Obama flip flopping article because I find it excruciatingly annoying. Unfortunately it is an hour until I'm out of here and my brain is completely fried. I'm surprised I can even form sentences at this point.

Yes, people do still drink Folgers. Sadly it is consumed by the gallon at my office. If I weren't banned from drinking coffee while my insomnia eages on I would most definitely try to do something about this travesty.

That Starbucks article has a funny quote: "'In short, the scent of the warm sandwiches interferes with the coffee aroma in our stores,' said Howard D. Schultz."

Yeah, I'm sure that's the primary reason why Starbucks is ending the sandwiches. The smell. Mmmhhmm.

It's not clear to me that Obama switched positions on the marijuana decriminalization issue. It seems to me that he is for a reform of current statutes that slants in the direction of decriminalization, but not one that eliminates all criminal penalties. Such a position defies simple "for" or "against" answers to decriminalization questions. No?

Casusbelli, you would seem to be correct.

For example, in MSNBC's Oct. 30 presidential debate, Mr. Obama hesitantly raised his hand and joined with most of his Democratic rivals to declare he opposed decriminalizing marijuana

Then...

in January 2004 he supported eliminating criminal penalties for marijuana use or possession, a debate video shows

Followed by...

"I think we need to rethink and decriminalize our marijuana laws," Mr. Obama said during a debate at Northwestern University. "But I'm not somebody who believes in legalization of marijuana."
In other words, he doesn't want to legalize marijuana, but clearly sees the need to revisit the nature of marijuana law. It also means his position hasn't changed.

Sorry, did the Stranger just use the fucking Washington Moony Times as a source? What's up with that? You guys should know better.

Not only do people still drink Folgers, but they drink more of it than any other kind of coffee. Those people lining up at Starbucks aren't drinking coffee; they're drinking milk. And sugar. And syrup.

So now to the real question on everyone's minds... How will the death of this drug lord affect the price and quality of all that blow you were going to buy on your way to the Cha Cha tonight?!?!?!

Fucking headline writers -- "End sandwich sales."

Wrong.

There are approximately 12 sandwich choices at Starbucks -- my guess, happy to be corrected -- and only four or so are breakfast sandwiches. So if the latter are discontinued, that does NOT mean an "end to sandwich sales."

Lazy, lazy, lazy. I bet that headline writer was to busy trimming Bill Kristol's ball hairs.
