Winter wonderlands of filthy slush puddles that cascade over your boots and soak your socks so you squick black water everywhere for the rest of the day.

Winter wonderlands of four-foot snowbanks that cars park around so your streetcar home is blocked for twenty minutes while everyone waits for the driver to come back so we can beat him/her to fucking death.

The field in Aspen where they pile up the snow after plowing is heaped up with 70 feet of snow right now. You could literally ski down the pile. So don't complain, it could be MUCH worse.

As for being away, it sucks. But it's mostly in Feb and Oct -- prime speaking gig months at our better Universities. Otherwise I'm at the house with the fam. And, I'm sorry, but I'm the breakfast dad -- eggs, waffles, fresh fruit. I makes it up to 'em, ecce, I does.

Oh, and I get around Chicago on the L -- in from the airports, to my gigs. I could take cabs, or cars. But when I know a city, and it has rapid transit, I tell 'em to keep their damn cars and cab vouchers. Doesn't make up for the flights, of course, but I loves me my trains.

Fnarf@25 - Also dog shit. For some reason, there are many dog owners who seem to think that their dog's shit disappears when it goes into the snow. So, when the snow melts, our whole street is pretty foul.

@30 and @32 - that Muskies actually burned down, that's why it was replaced.

Oh, and this winter has definitely sucked more that usual.
