I could, very definitely, vote for Obama.

When he is ready. I'm not saying that he'll do a bad job, however the history of the last 40 years is filled with well meaning folks unable, unwilling, or unqualified to follow through on those committments.

We need change in this Country, but I'm sceptical of a single presidential election bringing it about.

I'd be happy to be proved wrong, but I think it is going to take a few more years to make it 'real'.

Maybe I should clarify. I don't mean this is just like Vietnam as in the reasons for war are the same (they certainly aren't) however they are the same in the sense that it is a long, drawn out slaughter of servicemen and women and civilians that was popular at one time but is no longer popular because people realize 'war is bad' and 'war is expensive'. It's a war that is returning injured soldiers that are not being cared for by their government as promised. It's a war that we are waist-deep in and cannot simply leave as it will leave the region in an even more unstable political environment while completely ruining any of our remaining credibility with the rest of the world.
I concede that this war is not *exactly* like Vietnam, however the parallels are staggering.

I'm just waiting to see if Erica Barnett gets a look at the guy's blog who blames Ted Bundy on Title IX lesboes.

And you wonder why America's going down the tubes - all our money's being spent overseas in the Middle East, creating more terrorists than we kill, instead of in America rebuilding our infrastructure, shoring up our education and health care deficits (are we like 44th now of industrialized nations?), and replacing imported oil from the Middle East with American made wind, solar, geothermal, tidal and algae/switchgrass biomass energy.

Time to close the checkbook to the Middle East. And have our soldiers spend their salaries back home.

I'm so glad we stayed in Vietnam for 100 years and built permanent occupying bases there instead of pulling out.
