Is is just me or does Bobby Jindal look like a total fucking redneck even though he is of Indian heritage?

His smile bothers me.

No worries, we are going to overturn the 22nd amendment if Obama gets elected. He is going to break FDR's record in office.

Wow, Cato @2.

Is that really how far ahead of yourselves all you O-Bysmal fans are getting?

It's a gift to see diversity in this election cycle, but I wouldn't hold your breath... the republican party will be made of old white dudes for a very long time.

@3, I am surprised you did not start to cry... Wait, that's what your candidate does for attention/votes.

no more jokes or hyperbole, people. this is how feelings get hurt and elections get lost.

remember - anything you say can and will be used against you, your candidate, or other supporters of your candidate at any point in the future. don't say i didn't warn you!

What a country, indeed, Charles. Entirely opposed to your primary political philosophy. :-)

I'd argue that Jindal would make for a very good (and scary) candidate. He really is the Republican Obama.

timothy, what we are seeing is a racial change, not real change.

I think it's so cute that we let brown people and girls play at presidential politics now (as though they were just like everyone else). Just so long as the faggots aren’t allowed to play...

Those wacky Obamatons. They really think he'll be relavent in 2012?

@13 -- well then next election, we should definitely reserve a candidate slot for a lesbian, a gay man, an asian-american, a native american, a jewish transvestite, and an inuit hermaphrodite from american samoa. did i forget anyone?

i'd be proud to see a homosexual on the presidential ticket as well, but chill the fuck out with the grievance.

I live in Louisiana, and even though he is a Republican, and even though he is scary conservative, Jindal has the potential to be the best thing to happen to this state in terms of politics in a long time. I can't believe I just wrote that.

But the thing you have to remember about Louisiana is that one point in the 80's you had Edwin Edwards (who was under indictment) running against David Duke (who...well, I assume you know all about him). Those were the two candidates to emerge from the runoff (there is an open primary system here for state elections). From what people who lived through that nightmare one of Edward's actual slogans was "Do the right thing - vote for the crook."

Time will tell, I guess, on Jindal's administration. I will admit, though, that he is off to a good start. He has hired actual, qualified people to head the major cabinet offices instead of political cronies. That alone puts him a step ahead of pretty much everyone who has come before.

That was a great article on Bobby Jindal. Though I disagree with some (many) of his political views, I do admire him for his action and results-oriented approach to governing. It is remarkably practical. Thanks for posting, Charles.

And yes it is a sign of big progress in LA to elect a nonwhite. Huge!!

Except technically, Indians are Aryans and are white. But like, I mean, not to David Duke and such.

Great. Now that the USA lies in piilaged ruins, let the tokens take over to muck it out.
Who the fuck would really want to run this country, unless they were masochistic?
Think about the reality, all you young idealists. Hope? Change? Bullshit.

LoL @ 17 - I lived in New Orleans for 11 years before moving to Seattle but I still remember seeing those bumper stickers. That's what you get when you have an incumbant gov. that's been indited on corruption running against the former Grand Dragon of the KKK: "Vote for the crook - because it's important!"

Besides, EVERYONE knows that Jeb Bush is going to run in 2012 - after 4 years of a Democrat that can't fix a multi-trillion deficit without raising taxes; Jeb will look like a regular Ronald Regan. Never underestimate the lackk of short-term memory in the American people.
