If I could use Dominic Holden's turn posting "The Morning News" today to give him belated props for his Slog post Thursday, Designs So Nice, They’re Building Them Twice. I appreciate (A) his noticing this recent spent of twin-tower proposals in downtown Seattle and (B) his raising legitimate concerns.

On today's story on the local architecture firms' work overseas, I've got to say that New Delhi image is impressive. But a golf course in the middle of a dense urban area?! Mark Twain once said golf was a good walk spoiled. Well, putting a golf course in the middle of a dense urban area is a good public park spoiled.

When we send call center operations overseas, that's outsourcing. It's terrible. We hope the new administration stops it!
When other countries send us their architecture work, that's great!

we could use a lot of projects by european architects, since the clowns here in seattle aren't able to come up with any decent housing options..

also, there's no mention of gensler doing towers, but that's probably cos the local office only does interiors...

@2 I worked in a call center for a while and with the obesity problem in the US, the last thing we need are a ton of jobs tying people down to a desk.

cressona you support a transit system that will have more than 20 golf courses inside its borders. Bet even with a golf course New Delhi will beat the hell out of density compared to where you want to build rail here.

And you and the stranger are never satisfied with density - it took our favorite burrito place and dive bars, the condos have balconies that are too small, they shouldn't have "twin" towers and everything is too expensive but it has nothing to do with growth managment...

Zoning and design requirements are why we are getting twin towers - youse are the enemy.

Re. ouch (a.k.a. whatever??) @6 --
Just to be clear, I think those twin-tower projects are a good thing. Just six of them gets into "too much of a good thing" territory. And to echo another concern of Dominic's, it would be nice if they were a little more fraternal twins, a little less identical twins.

Hey maybe the twin tower theme will give Seattle a little bit of a unique image, doubtful, but anything is possible

It was Kosovars who declared independence, not Albanians. Many in Kosovo are ethnic Albanians, however.

There was a story in Sunday's paper about beef recalls in California after the USDA saw that Humane Society video.

http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/businesstechnology/2004187634_apslaughterhouseabuse17.html

Federal officials suspended operations at Westland/Hallmark after an undercover video from the Humane Society of the United States surfaced showing crippled and sick animals being shoved with forklifts.
