"A man in his 20s" -- nothing like the power of the media to disseminate details critically important to the apprehension of a dangerous criminal.

"A man in his 20s," huh? Well, in that case, when my friend joins me tonight to see the movie at SIFF Cinema, I'm going to place him under citizen's arrest because he's a man in his 20s and thus fits the detailed description perfectly.

Morons.

Gay Mormons want to work things out with the Church? I'm sure they do.

Just as I'm sure that the Church is more than happy to excommunicate them on the spot.

You can't raise your forever family without your spirit wife (wives?)

I still don't know why the only man with the guts to immediately withdraw the troops merits a shudder. All of his other policies are going to have to go through congress. He doesn't want to exert all the power that the current president flexes, as he believes that the executive branch shouldn't have that much. Why the hate? Barack said he would invade Pak, Hilary said she'd be open to hammering Iran. And spare me the whole gold standard thing. The main issues in the entire race is the economy and being safe from your own government, and that's it. Without that, EVERY other argument kinda becomes moot. If we can't afford something, how can anything else get done. I guess I don't get it. I like the Stranger and everything, but it seems the vitriol against Ron Paul hasn't stopped. Just as I never heard of Wonkette before this race, but her mean spirited posts ensure that I will never read her again. Doesn't anyone have anything nice to say about Paul? Dan came up with a good scenario for McCain, so why not?

@3: I couldn't really have cared about Ron Paul one way or the other...until Newslettergate hit.

My sense is that -- charitably supposing he did not know his newsletter was filled with thinly (if at all) veiled racism, homophobia and other delights -- if he can't be bothered to oversee that two-bit operation, how can he be trusted to run something as complex as the United States executive branch?

Plus, in debates, he comes across as a shrill little weasel and, yeah, deportment counts a lot for me in the race for president. I don;t want our executive sitting at the G8 acting like a tinfoil hatter from Sparks, Nevada.

Correction: the oil rig is British, not Scandinavian. It's named "Safe Scandinavia" but it, the woman, and the police who took her into custody are all British.

The guy getting stabbed on the ave is the third major incident that occurred in the U district this weekend. I hope this is a sign to the SPD and the UW Police to patrol the 45th - 50th corridor of the U District more frequently. Of course, that's been something that's been requested for years. When you call the police in the U District, they literally take their time to arrive. The only SPD officers that I see around the U district are the meter maids.

@3: Ron Paul is crazy. His positions on a huge number of issues don't make any damn sense. His followers are thuggish, right-wing pricks. So he got one position right? Big deal.

More vitriol with no backing. All of your arguments are inherently flawed because they offer no alternative. You are no better than Romney, smirking self-righteously at different ideas. Nothing has worked in stopping the coming recession so far, and simply bashing someone for presenting what he thinks is the best you can do. Fox News would be proud of you all. I'm out.

Tragic about the bride dying at her wedding reception while dancing the first dance with her husband.

Man, talk about blue balls!

@#8: Actually, a cop car drove past about 20 seconds after the stabber ran away. The car was flagged down by bystanders and the cops had control of the scene about 60-90 seconds after the stabbing occurred.

I don't see how they could have had a better response than that.

@9: I'm not sure where you come off with your thuggish comment, but the Paul supporters I know have been very polite and the majority prefer Obama to the other Republicans. They're sincere independents, non-interventionists and fiscal conservatives who at this point aren't supporting Paul with the expectation of getting him elected so much as sending a message to the Republican party that they can't win their support without a more libertarian approach.

And for the record, in District 43, which covers the core of Seattle, Paul handily won the vote, with 62 delegates to McCain's 48 and Huckabee's 17. These numbers come from a fellow Paul supporter who helped count the ballots.
