Spanking Leads to Sexual Deviancy

posted by on February 28 at 11:16 AM

Modern science says

Researchers have uncovered another damaging consequence of spanking: risky sexual behaviors, or even sexual deviancy, when the child grows up.

And this, I guess, is a reason not to spank. I guess.

Well, that explains everything. Except maybe the ex, who had never been spanked in her life before I came along. Or tied up. She was a fast learner, though.

#1 beat me to it. It really would explain a lot.

Is spanking correlated homosexuality too? It really is my parents fault!

That makes me wonder about my supposedly non-freaky, fundy sister who was definitely spanked a lot more than I was. As for me...duh! But I actually liked it as a kid and would laugh and that would make my mom or dad hit me harder. Hee hee. They actually switched to time outs for me...but not her. I doubt she is one of the "lucky" ones. I personally believe Jesus is a fetish.

Well, you've got to imagine there is a lot of freaky sexual stuff going on in the old "spare the rod and spoil the child" Bible Belt. Part of which is related to all the sexual shame they promote, but it is all related to corporal punishment and their child rearing system as a whole.

Well, my strict Southern Baptist grandfather beat the shit out of my dad, who in turn, raped the shit out of me. I, in turn, verbally assault all the Slog children. But this is where it stops!

no matter what we do, even healthy people will screw up their kids in some way. we can't anticipate what will set one kid off and not another. best to start saving up for their therapy just as you would for college.

Yeah, this explains quite a bit. That and what the babysitter did, I mean. (It's okay -- female babysitter. Cue the South Park "nice.")

I was never spanked... my parents threatened, but never followed through... does this mean I can't call myself a sexual deviant anymore?

In my experience this is true.

I don't agree. I used to be quite active in the kink community, and talked to a lot of fellow perverts about their upbringing. There was no higher incidence of childhood physical discipline among the deviants than among the vanilla people. What WAS much more frequent in the childhoods of my fellow degenerates was a fundie-churchgoing upbringing, but contrary to popular stereotypes, not all fundies beat or screw their children.

I would argue that not being spanked as a child feeds the desire to have one's bottom warmed as an adult.

Then again, I come from a big Catholic family, so maybe that's it.

Whatever. I was spanked plenty as a child and, aside from the fact that I'm gay, I am unbearably vanilla.

First time I read that headline, I thought it meant spanking NOW would lead to sexual deviancy NOW. Like, spanking my wife would make her more deviant.

I guess I don't even think about punishing kids when I think about spanking.
