Chucking premade Egg McMuffin rip-offs into a microwave was too "distracting" for the baristas? If that's really true, I think Starbucks has bigger problems than their breakfast menu!

Given that they've just announced a big raft of layoffs at corporate, I'm guessing the Breakfast Sandwich will be far down on the list of priorities.

Their "baristas" hardly even make espresso - it's mostly the machine that does it.

My favorite part of the website is the jaunty litte "Beta" in the upper right-hand corner. With a shadow and everything!

Aislinn's right, the machines are doing it. That's why I like the little cafe next door, they actually make my latte right there.

Breakfast sandwiches were always a dumb idea - unlike scones.

Starbucks could save TONS of money, by firing all the slacker employees who do nothing but hang out and crack jokes and pay the good employees who actually do their jobs, a living wage...

the sandwiches were good, but not great...they apparently never heard of seasonings.

Meh, you can get pretty much the same sandwich at QFC - and for about the same price, if that makes you feel any better about it.

You do have to take it somewhere else to get it microwaved, so I guess in that sense it's a bit more of a rip-off than was the $tarbuck$ sandwich. But, on the other hand at least you don't have to stand in the stupid $tarbuck$ line, so maybe that's a positive offset.

I actually eat these every once in a while in a pinch (for dinner) and will be sorry to see them go. I wonder if the real underlying goal is to entirely dump the ovens used to heat them???

You can make your own breakfast sandwich pretty easily and far more cheaply at home (English muffin, fried egg, smoked salmon), so no real loss. Starbucks apparently made a fortune on these things but I heard the baristas hated them because they stink the place up and make it smell like McDonald's. Hard to argue with that, really.

It's supposed to be the first of many initiatives that Howard Schultz, back at the reins, is taking to restore Starbucks' image--listening to the baristas instead of just eyeing the bottom line.

Too bad I will never again enter a Starbucks after Schultz fucking sold the Sonics to Okies. Eat me Howie.

Those breakfast sandwiches are a lifesaver. Without them, all Starbucks has to really eat for breakfast are various forms of bread, sugar or sugared bread.

Can't they just vent the ovens a bit more?
