This is exactly why a Hillary Clinton nomination scares me. It's unfair, I know, but her name would be a rallying cry for every crazy republican wing-nut.

and not even every republican nut! many people who are independent and leaning towards obama simply dislike hillary, the clintons , and how theyve been targeting obama. I also dislike her asinine policy ideas regarding sub prime mortgages. I dislike how she takes a good idea but turns it into something larger than what is possible. She has enough people that don't like her in the middle, that it will be hard to win.

and before sven rushes in here with "BUT THIS POLL HAS HER BEATING MCCAIN" we need to find an updated poll that has mccain paired with various people as his running mate. huckabee, crist, etc etc.

less than a week ago rush was trashing mccain as a pseudo-conservative. now he's backing mccain ...by backing hillary...??? i know he ain't right in the head, but this is just fucking weird [not to mention extremely entertaining].

People don't vote against. They vote for. Remember Kerry and Bush? Republican turnout will be based on McCain's performance, not the Democrat's. If anything, the Republican party faithful's fixation on her will weaken their appeal to centrists.

blank, an incumbent president is more likely to win. also, this election is a bit different than kerry/bush. kerry wasn't well liked by his base, but he also was well liked by independents at all. bush was well liked by his base and liked by independents.

And that's nice he's NOW behind the apparent Republican frontrunner, (which is something ALL Dems/Liberals need to remember once we have a frontrunner; whoever gets the nomination, despite personal feelings, SUPPORT them. Do you really want 4 more years of Republican rule?)
but judging by voter turnouts on the Republican side, there's not much love for their candidates. And McCain is screwed. The far righties in the Republican party hate him as much as a lot of Dems hate Hillary. And if McCain picks Huckabee, or some other nutjob far rightie as the VP, he's going to alienate a lot of his moderate supporters.

Obama won't be Hillary's VP. Hillary won't be Obama's VP.

It's not going to happen. There is no advantage at all for Obama in either scenario. He's either be third banana in the white house and thus get jack accomplished, or he'll have an establishment, "old guard" politician as a running mate, dragging down the ticket.

People need to realize that it is not going to happen.

Totally agree, Ed. It's more likely that Hillary would select Wes Clark or Evan Bayh, and Obama would choose someone like the former Senator Sam Nunn (a white Southerner) who is an expert in foreign affairs, and knows his way around DC.
