Slog - Comments on Clinton Running Late?

Jake Tapper says Hillary Clinton arrived quite late—almost two hours late—at an event in Virginia earlier today and notes: Clinton is due at a rally in Seattle, WA, later tonight, into which this delay will indubitably spill over. Perhaps. Or maybe she'll be able to make up the lost time somehow. But a Boeing employee who's been emailing me about this today is skeptical: Given the times cited in the following news article, I don't see how HRC could possibly be on stage in Seattle before 10 p.m. Pacific at the earliest. Civilian jets can only fly so fast. Now,...

@ Will in Seattle, I think you're mistaken. According to Obama's campaign website, he was in New Orleans this morning, and then was in Omaha getting an endorsement from the governor of Iowa. According to the Omaha World-Herald his rally ended at 6.57 pm central time (with him in attendance, or 4.57 pm here in Seattle). It takes approximately 3 hours to fly from OMA to Seattle, and only one flight today is scheduled from the Omaha area to the Seattle area, and it left about ten minutes ago.

So, who's wrong? You, or the campaign?

She will definitely be late. Almost all politicians are.
I remember waiting hours to see HRC and Bill speak in my college's gym about fifteen years ago and they were at least an hour late - sure, it was probably Bill's fault but bring food and water and something to read. Surprisingly, the topic back then was health care... I wonder if that'll come up tonight.

Hillary pissed off a lot of potential caucusers tonight. The pier rally is being held indoors in a building way to small for the event. Though she accepted RSVPs on her website, they can't honor those RSVPs at the door. The room was filled and the doors closed before Hillary's plane was even scheduled to touch down in Seattle. If that's the best she and her organization can do, I'll caucus for Obama -- or at least withhold judgment until we see what Obama pulls off tomorrow.

Comment by Amy

If you care about the Iraq War, think before you vote

For 3 years, Sen. Clinton had taken the same position on Iraq as Bush.

She said the same words as Bush:
Sen. Clinton: "Every nation has to be either with us or against us"
Hear her say this on YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DbYGYiGjpUs

Sen. Clinton did not read the National Intelligence Report (NIE) which raised doubts about WMD in Iraq. Sen. Bob Graham even urged her and other senators to read the NIE before casting their vote on Iraq War but to no avail.

Sen. Clinton said that "intelligence reports clearly showed Iraq had WMD" even though she did not bother to read the NIE. (Senate proceedings Oct 12, 2002)

Sen. Clinton also said "Saddam had links to Al Qaeda" on the senate floor. This was a Bush talking point and no credible intelligence indicated so. Even several senators who voted for Iraq did not believe any such Al Qaeda link existed. (Senate proceedings Oct 12, 2002)

Sen. Clinton has not once admitted that her war vote was a mistake. How can she confront the Republicans saying that war was a mistake?

In Nov 2003, Sen. Clinton called for a ''tough-minded, muscular foreign and defense policy.'' She urged ''patience'' and worried about the political will ''to stay the course.'' She also said her vote for war was the right vote.

In Feb 2005, Sen. Clinton said that much of Iraq was ''functioning quite well" echoing Bush once again.

In 2005, Sen. Clinton appeared on "Meet the Press" saying it ''would be a mistake'' to call for the immediate withdrawal of troops or set a timetable.

Only after the majority of public opinion turned against the war, and she started thinking about her presidential run, Sen. Clinton changed her position.

Are you sure, she would not follow a "tough-minded" foreign policy similar to Bush's once she is elected. She already voted to label Iran's National Guard as terrorists giving Bush yet another pass.

I wouldn't be a bit suprised if it was all orchastrated by Bill Clinton and Rupert Murdoch in some smoky room, but when it is all said and done, Hillary is so good at getting money that she can even get it from people who hate her. Well played Clintons.

I don't like them, too much screaming and not enough listening. SECOND: She was late and made no apology, sort of like GWB. THIRD: Lots and Lots of promises, short on how to build consensus. FOURTH: The Snohomish County Executive is one HOT man.
