Clinton switched the scripts.
Thank you for doing that reporting, Josh.
I understand that SLOG is often more editorial than the print version of the paper, but some basic reporting seems in order, especially in a case like this.
Oopsie.
Every Obamaton who blamed Clinton reflexively is going to write in to apologize for jumpting the gun, making slanderous accusations without proof, and engaging in old style dirty politics in ....
oh never mind.
You know, this was part of the discussion today at the Washington Post ... even they got confused and thought we were a Primary state ...
I always assumed it was McCain.
@3. Seriously. The comments on the last post on this mostly took it as a given that this was a Clinton dirty trick. Before the facts were actually brought to light. It was pretty ridiculous...
Obama's going to be a great president, if he remembers to show up for his inauguration.
I know this is just SLOG, but Dan's post was extremely damaging.
Let's say someone reads the post implying that someone is sabotaging Obama, then tells a bunch of people, maybe posts it on their blog, sends it to their 1,000-person mailing list, and doesn't check SLOG again to see the correction?
Let's say that person is a harried, blurry-eyed daily newspaper reporter (they rip off SLOG every week) and prints it on the damn front page of the paper? (They're sure the credit the Stranger in that case, of course.)
I know the Stranger is practically perfect in every way, but corrections should be avoided at all costs.
Will the Clintons stop at NOTHING?!
OK, Meyer's not going to jail. But I'll bet they're not going to get paid, either. And "we screwed up the date for our last client's very important caucuses" isn't exactly good advertising, either.
I assume they were robocalling Maine with the wrong date too?
Not Maine!
Dang, used to have fun at French House Island just off Jonesport every summer when I was a kid ...
AMB, Reality Check, Bellevue Ave, linus, Cato the Younger, Lloyd Cooney? Do you have something you'd like to say to the class?
How about a moratorium on posting crap like this? The truth is, there is no way either campaign would use dirty-trick robocalls. They are too easy to trace and too damaging when they are found out.
By posting this you were clearly insinuating that Clinton's campaign had something to do with it. Maybe the ones playing the "dirty tricks" are you guys?!
Boo to the Stranger. Just because you endorsed Obama doesn't mean you need to slander or imply untrue things about Clinton. Big fuck-up on Eli's part as well.
Will he apologize?
It's a conspiracy by the Obama campaign!!
They send out these robocalls with the wrong date and then say it was a dirty trick by the Clinton campaign.
@14, that's hillarious.
Any more info on the primary robocall?
yeah nice job guys...why don't we put away the tinfoil hats for the week and follow Jonah's friend's example...
http://slog.thestranger.com/2008/02/seen_in_the_stranger_offices_1
...you'll be doing all of us a public service.
OH MY GOD! The Stranger did some reporting! WOOOO!
What about the first round of robocalls telling people to vote in the primary?
@11: Funny how they all mysteriously disappeared huh?
Austin Jenkins explains it at Crosscut.com:
http://www.crosscut.com/2008-election/11379/What+Are+the+caucuses+on+Sunday/
i'd like a fucking apology from the obamatons. like, fucking NOW!
good going guys you made obama fanatics look, well, stupid.
what a bunch of ass-hats and douche-nozzles.
I'm Robo-Caucusing for Kodos.
Is it just me, or is it odd that it's 'just a mess-up' if Obama's campaign is behind it and a ruthless attempt to surpress voter turnout and destroy democracy if it's assummed the Clinton campaign is? Not that this shows any bias or anything...
