That is hardly suprising. Seattle (or at least 21,000 people in it) were Wooed by Obama yesterday at the rally. It was amazing.

Here's the breakdown by juristiction:
I don't think the same counties are being counted (or more have been added) in the official total right now, but Obama has a slightly narrower but still significant lead in Adams, Asotin, and Benton counties, all SE Washington.
In my Belltown precinct, Obama had 39 votes to Hillary's 11.
48% in, they're calling it for the O man.

How is ECB taking the loss? Guess having two powerful woman senators and a ex-governor backing you does not help you carry the state.
Where was Clinton yesterday? I think the Obama rally energized and informed people about how to caucus which is probably why he is winning.

based on the jurisdictional results at the site annie linked to, the highest numbers for Clinton are 42 % in Yakima...So is that the old school farmers or their field hands?
At Campbell Elementary, where folks from Southernmost SE Seattle, Skyway and West Renton, there were 584 people throughout 14 precincts.

the new york times article on the win has a great photo of obama courting the dirty hippy demographic over in maine. It is very difficult for me to imagine any of the other candidates in that photo other than him.

I would agree that MSNBC;s Mr. Shuster saying Hillary was "pimping out" Chelsea was gross and also showed animus and bias.
Imagine if they said that about Michelle Obama. That the Obama campaign was pimping her out.
If that had happened, MSNBC would have street protests in front of their studios and the Shuster dude would've been fired by now.
Remember folks, these don't represent the official state delegation vote ratios, which won't be decided until we have the county, and later state conventions, where I think Clinton will eke out a slightly larger proportional vote; I'll call it approximately 3:1.
Based on what I saw today, I'm going to predict the final state delegation to the Democratic National Convention will be 71 for Obama, 26 for Clinton, including superdelegates.
In my sunset hill (ballard) precinct, Obama had 52 votes to Clinton's 11 (!).

Yakima county is the closest (maybe due to large Hispanic population?), with Obama - 56%, Clinton - 44%.

You had to know, when a recent Clinton rally drew a few thousand people, and the Obama rally not only packed in 17,000 people but had 3000 people outside who wanted to but couldn't get in, that WA was going to side with Obama in a landslide.
The delegate breakdown, however, has me confused: I thought WA got 80 national delegates and 17 superdelegates. So do those tens of thousands of 'delegates' get used to proportionally determine how those 80 caucus-powered delegates get broken down?
This is a lack of education in progress. If I hear one more person say "he's believable," I will throw up. He is full of lies and has no real plan for health care or withdrawal from Iraq. I don't see him being a pillar of strength for this country at all. Lame. president.

Sort of and mainly, yes.
The delegates we chose today go to the legislative district caucus in April, inother counties they go straight to a county convention, then there is a state demo. convention and THAT"S WHERE the 80 pledged delegates chosen thru the caucus process actually get picked.
Soooo....if someone drops out or if any of these delegates just don't show up...the results will be skewed.
But basically the answer is yes.
If you don't like this system, join the Democratic party and lobby the State Central Committee to stop using caucuses. Ditto and vice versa if you like the chaotic caucus process.
@32/Gomez, there are other Party conventions (county, state) that whittle down all those *precinct* delegates down to the state delegates.

Not to throw a wrench in the works, but it seems a bit weird for callin' it for obama, when we two more tiers of caucuses to go through. Apparently delegates can "change their minds" regardless of the consensus of the group, at the next round and I just want to point that out. In my group people got delegates who were really into the candidate, and brought out the point of changed mind and stuff. Not trying to be a buzzkill. It's awesome that so many people wanted the big O. Um, never mind. At any rate, I just want the shit to stay accurate and not understand if, for some reason we end up sending more Clinton delegates to Denver the Obama delegates. I want to keep my eyes open and understand the process. 'Cause it is a wee bit crazy. Can't stand the damn electoral college, long for first past the post!

It's not that Clinton voters didn't show up - it's that a lot of people who never vote or haven't did. And they were mostly for Obama.

@39 - i think mccain may have to back track a bit after today - mike "i majored in miracles" huckabee (and i think some of those wacko evangelical colleges actually let you do that) has won kansas, is leading louisiana, and is neck and neck here.
OK, so the NY Times map is showing only one pro-Clinton county and a few undecided. KING5 just reported Obama is winning in every county in the state.
As an ardent Obama supporter, I am just flabbergasted, overwhelmed by the depth and breadth of this support. The results today restore my faith in Seattle and the state of Washington. Next up: restoring my faith in the United States of America.
Oh, and it's remarkable how out of touch our two senators are. If I may quote one CJ from the "north of the Ship Canal" thread:
P.S. Senators Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell both endorsed Clinton but clearly are not representing the will of the people of Washington State. Consider writing to them that they should switch their superdelegate vote to Obama and that if they don't, we'll vote them out of office. (Also write to Gov Gregoire and thank her for getting it right.)
I have to say, the Gregoire Obama endorsement may have done even more for Gregoire than Obama. I know she's just gained a huge chunk of credibility in my book.
Thank God Americans are FINALLY getting involved. We're beginning to look like a 3rd world-nation where 98% of the citizens turn out to vote! Keep it up.
Young folk are fu*king this country’s future right in the pooter. Obama sounds a lot like Osama to me, and by God I will not have some Muslim sully the house were Ronald Reagan took his tea. It is hard for me to imagine some caramel colored fella stealing the white house after 7 years of American glory in the middle East. We are finally making the right kind of progress over in the sanded lands, and Washington State slaps our glorified victory right in the loins. Clinton is the right kind of liberal, but you can not see that can you.
Turnout is a big story here. The 37th district, which was over 80% for Obama, had a huge increase in turnout. More than 4 times that of 2004.

CNN (which has by far the best maps on TV) says that the only county Clinton is carrying is Douglas County, a county which has a lovely Miss but hardly any people.
Obama carries the Virgin Islands, too. Big night for him. Clinton is in trouble.

Of course @45 is not my dad. My dad is an aging old school hippy in Georgia who has never bothered to learn to type, much less to master the internets.
He wrote a really passionate letter to Gore back in the summer pleading him to run. When Gore didn't, my Dad kind of tuned out of the race. My stepmother loves Hillary but of course Georgia went big for Obama.
My mom, who has advanced pancreatic cancer, loves Hillary but of course Minnesota went big for Obama.
I want to really congratulate the Obama supporters. You have come out in droves in all the states I care about. Your candidate seems well on the way to winning the nomination, and while I continue to believe that Hillary is both a better choice for President and more able to win, if you youngsters show up in the general election your man will be the next President.
Just wanted to give a big hug to the one person in Garfield county who came out to caucus and vote for Obama.

I suspect they will mean a whole lot, if the Republicans were united the Democrats would have little chance, but if they stay fractured Obama may have fair chance. Though I wonder about a McCain/Huckabee ticket, one might imagine it would lose more independents than it would gain wingnuts, but you never really know until the supreme court stops the recounts..
