I’ve touched the hem of his sportcoat,
And now I, too, am free;
His healing pow’r this very hour
Gives healthcare to me.

Well, given that for centuries christianistas (and most other religions) have been saying the second coming was upon us, and that as a small child (approx 40 years ago) I was led to believe that the second coming was so close that I gave my kittens away to some non-believers to feed once I departed, all I can say is its about damn time.

What surprises me is that so many young'uns have NOT waited for the opinions of Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul regarding Mr. O's demonstrably talented presentation.

Democracy will have come full semi-circle when we text message our vote, then sit on the front porch, waiting for things magically to get better.

There was that woman who was pronounced dead on the floor of Key Arena, until Barack Obama laid hands upon her and she lived again. That's very messianic. Well, I don't say that. But there are some who overreact and get all excited.

If Obama can bring back the dead and heal the sick in a consistent and reliable way, then, yeah, perhaps he is a messiah. Otherwise, I take the more reasoned approach that he is only a super being who traveled back to our time from the future.

Lead and they shall follow ...

The latest Rasmussen Reports national tracking poll shows Sen. Barack Obama opening up a 12-point lead over Sen. Hillary Clinton, 49% to 37%. Over the past five days, Obama has gained 8 points while Clinton has dropped 12.

Yeah--because I don't want to waste my vote on someone who raises the dead in a haphazard fashion.

After the Obarapture, only those who refuse to see the Light will be left on Earth to struggle with the forces of war, famine, pestilence, xenophobia, patriarchy, corporatism, bureaucracy, globalism, nimbyism, melting ice caps, neocon think tanks, and scabies.

Christians aren't looking for the Messiah (in that way). Only conservative Jews are (liberals see "Messiah" as a metaphor for the return of the nation of Israel).

Two points about Christianity:

Jesus will return as He left (skyward). Just as He ascended into heaven, he'll come down, and as the lightening flashes from the east to the west, so will the Son of Man be in His coming. The Incarnation was permanent, and it wouldn't happen again.

The next "messiah" would really be the anti-Christ. He's likely to be much more popular than Obama, far more Charismatic and far more religious. Like Obama, he would be very comfortable with religious/spiritual imagery and metaphor, and he would excite people, but all people (not just the young). At his core, you know the anti-Christ because he is, well, anti-Christ, and presents a false image of Jesus and/or defames the name of Jesus (and/or sets himself up in the place of Jesus).

Don't the Mayans say the end of the world is coming in 2012? Right as our saviour begins his 2nd term?
