See, the problem here is that nobody explained to SPOG how negotiation works. You give the other party something they want, they give you something you want. Want higher pay, but don't want higher accountability? Hmm, that could be a problem. Particularly since SPD is hemhorraging money for legal fees and settlements to cover for cop thuggery.

Did you just make that up or is that a bonafide fact? Do they all live some magical place in Western Washington where housing costs aren't high?

I think the city's general fund covers legal fees and settlements for cases against the city. Basically you and I pay to cover their cop thuggery.

Any cop protesting should be off-duty. I would wager most of them will be armed.

If you really feel the need to protest a bunch of union guys working to get a contract, get a permit from the city. Expect a lot of media attention and a lot of political heat (if the SPOG goes through with this idea, that is).

They do need better pay, or, all you can hire are the leftover scum which becomes part of all the other problems.

I will gladly join the we are here to stare counter event. Yummy guys despite all, and not all pigs. In fact I hear many are fags --- even at command levels --- how could that be?

I'm doing what I can to form a counter-protest.

Though, since #12 kindly warned us that the cops will be armed so they can deal with counter-protesters, I suspect I'll be the only one there.

But someone has got to stand up to the thugs and bullies, or there's no hope.

@11: Sorry, man, it's a well-known fact. Most Eastern cities require their cops and firefighters to live within city limits. We don't, so they moved away years ago.
