This is going to be good.

Ooh, and I can stay for almost the entire time - depending on whether I decide to go to the Valentine's Bash or the 14/48 thing @ CHAC afterwards.

You know, we showed up on Super Tuesday, but only spoke briefly to Big Sven and Mr. Poe. What's the point of going to a bar if you can never get a drink? I wasn't going to stand there for an hour waiting to get the bartender's attention.

Time for a bigger venue. Moe Bar is cute, but come on.

but that's LOST night, he whined...

not going this time. I did the super tuesday and I now think the only reason that it is at moe is the Stranger staff is too lazy to walk more than a block to get a drink after work. Besides, it is valentines day and I dumped my girlfriend tuesday after moe. That bar is a curse!

Actually, it's between 2 and 2 1/2 blocks from The Stranger Offices on 11th, just south of E Pine, to Moe Bar on 10th, about half-way between E Pike & E Union

I mean, if they were THAT lazy, they'd either just go to Purr, which is directly across the street, or, stay in their office and swig from bottles pulled out of their desk drawers.

@4: Totally agreed. It's too crowded, and they don't have the bar staff to keep things moving efficiently.

I definitely appreciate the specials, though - my tab was only $18, and I had four double gin and tonics and a friend's beer on there. It was an appropriate send-off for the Lenten fast: no more booze for me till Easter.

@ 5: Tivo that bitch. Or...Tivo that, Bitch.

Dunno -- Valentine's Day is code for "Katelyn will be getting drunk and watching a blood-and-gore movie at home." Maybe I'll fix myself something romantic like, you know, rice and beans. Long-standing traditions!!

Should be fun! Way too much booze, but great to be there! Hope they have a special VD Day drink ... maybe I'll buy Aislinn and Katelyn one.

Sorry guys, I plan to be nudging a meatball across the plate with my nose toward my fiancee, down at Beppo's.

@11: Clearly you weren't paying very close attention - I'm not drinking again until Easter. It's Lent. I gave up booze. We went over this on Tuesday, but you did introduce yourself to me twice, so I suppose I can't expect much retention. Looking forward to seeing you again, though!

We have the option to use the spacious VIP Room underneath Neumo's, where we'd gain our own bartender, more elbow room, and a clandestine-club vibe. Are we ready for that?

More space? I'd show up then. If they can also staff for it. Two bartenders and some sort of sound technician who was doing her best to help out doesn't cut it.

Mike in MO...I'm too poor for TiVo.

No one's going to fuckin' Purr...Stranger staffers don't drink at places where $9 buys you ONE, small, weak cocktail.

Oh, I thought I said hi three times. I gave up memorizing names for Lent. I'll bring chocolate instead.

@14 -- YES! I was appalled at how long it took to get a drink. I didn't even get one! I stood around for 40 minutes looking for someone with a Slog sign or nametags and just decided to bolt.

But I'm willing to give it a second chance if it's not at Moe.

i had 6 beers while i was there. i showed up at 8:45. i must have come late?

I'll be there either way, but Amy, having this in the VIP room would be totally HOT.

@19: Maybe you are one of the hotter sloggers Bellevue Ave? Because it took me a long time to get drinks too.

Posted by Jon | February 7, 2008 7:10 PM

I'm not hotter than your average bear but I still manage to get drinks in a timely fashion at Moe Bar during these events. Jon, you have to BE-E AGGRESSIVE.

Posted by Katelyn | February 7, 2008 7:51 PM
23

Bah! There are lots of other places I can get a drink around here. If Moe Bar wants to host this thing, they need to bring in some staff. If they don't want to make the effort, I'm not showing up. I drink to relax, not to fight for a place at the bar.

Posted by elenchos | February 7, 2008 8:18 PM

@23: Thats what I'm saying! But Katelyn, you might be right. I just didn't have the patience I guess.

Haven't you people learned - when in a crowded, understaffed bar, ALWAYS ORDER DOUBLES!

Posted by COMTE | February 7, 2008 10:58 PM
26

I ordered doubles. And Jon is right, Bellevue Ave is hotter than most people and he also knows to order doubles.
