Obama and Clinton: Compare and Contrast

posted by on February 28 at 16:31 PM

Obama came out with his open letter to the gays today… and Hillary Clinton talked about her faith on Pat Roberton’s gay-baiting 700 Club last week. Yeah, yeah: the Democrats have to reach out to religious voters. But on the 700 Club?

Well, they do have a news program.

See, told you she'd triangulate away your rights. (grin)

Pat Robertson is beyond the pale, and should be shunned by all respectable people. Clinton should no more be going to talk to him than she should to Fred Phelps. There's Christians, and then there's people like Robertson. What a motherfucker. Ugh.

not only is that pandering, it's idiotic pandering. No matter how many visits she makes to the shrine of the American Talibani's, they are NOT going to vote for her.

If she wants the votes of religious types she needs to get a clue and go after those middle of the road types in the big suburban mega-churches. Some of them might be reachable, not the fascist yahoos that watch Pat Robertson.

As far as I can tell from the links, she didn't go on the program or talk to Robertson....she was interviewed in Rhode Island by the network's "senior national news correspondent" and he played clips of it in a segment on the 700 Club. Perhaps beyond the pale for some nonetheless.

Even if she didn't have a sit-down with Robertson, I think what this segment showcases is the Fundie Fear of Obama. It further confirms my support for him.

I am already sick to to death of this "Obama mania" crap. Why is it such a bad thing for a candidate to inspire such so-called "mania". I am not so naive that I don't realize that half of politics is marketing & spin, but I know a great orator when I see one, and one who inspires confidence. Confidence is very much something we need in this country, and something we want to project internationally.

I'm shocked that Pat Robertson is still on TV.
Who listens to anything he has to say.
I honestly think he is senile. I'm not even being sarcastic.

If Hillary and Obama won't talk to the 700 Club and their types, it will just be labelled as "See, they're scared of us." Fear them or kiss their asses, the fundies will welcome either. I think it's great when anyone is willing to beard the lion in his den.
