@2. actually, i believe the question is should we be tolerant of normally tolerant people who were intolerant of the intolerant person.

Does anyone care that the Pastor was at the school to speak about civil rights? He was invited as a black man who lived the civil rights movement in the south.....and was booed!?! I'm all for free speech, but have some class.

The fact is a teacher boo'ed an invited speaker. This is behaviour for which a student would be held accountable, so it appropriate that a teacher, who is to model appropriate behaviour, should also be accountable for. All of the gay and lesbian rights discussion is not applicable at all in this scenario, bad behaviour on the part of a teacher is.
