Mitt Romney’s Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Night

posted by on February 5 at 21:37 PM

Mittens is in trouble, deep trouble. Tonight was not a good night for him.

The surprise? Huckabee is back in the game. Not enough to really win, but enough to once again be a serious candidate.

Look for extensive talk of a McCain / Huckabee ticket in coming weeks. And possibly Ann Coulter’s head spinning. Well, more so than usual.

(Drunkenly slogged. Please be kind.)

Jesus wants me for a sunbeam,
To shine for Him each day;
In every way try to please Him,
At home, at school, at play.

Refrain

A sunbeam, a sunbeam,
Jesus wants me for a sunbeam;
A sunbeam, a sunbeam,
I’ll be a sunbeam for Him.

Jesus wants me to be loving,
And kind to all I see;
Showing how pleasant and happy
His little one can be.

Refrain

I will ask Jesus to help me
To keep my heart from sin,
Ever reflecting His goodness,
And always shine for Him.

Refrain

I’ll be a sunbeam for Jesus;
I can if I but try;
Serving Him moment by moment,
Then live with Him on high.

Refrain

And "drunkenly slogged" is different from other items slogged how, exactly?

Fewer semicolons.

That's a Mormon hymn, BTW, so be kind before deleting.

Ha ha! Adorable nod to a favorite children's book, though I hate to associate it to ol' Mitt.

Now why in the hell would Jesus want anyone for a fucking sunbeam?

The World (According to Huckabee and Romney and the rest of the Christofascist wing of the GOP) may be only 6,000 years old, but the primary season for the Republicans just got a whole lot longer...

What? I thought you guys were always drunkenly slogging? I feel mislead.

I had been thinking the Republican ticket would surely be McCain/Huckabee, but then I saw the picture on the Seattle Times website of McCain jawing with Lieberman on his campaign plane. I'd plum forgotten about Lieberman. Seems like another VP possibility.

McCain picking Lieberman for VP would disenfranchise even more Republicans who already think he isn't conservative enough.

The only way McCain is going to solidify the base is to go for Cheney. McCain / Cheney. It has a ring to it, doesn't it? Sort of a sulfurous and evil ring, but a ring nonetheless.

McCain is going with Huckabee. Huckabee owns the South.

McCuckabee has a very hee-haw-larious ring to it...

McCain/Huckabee is fucking scary. Especially if McCain gets capped or blows a 71 year-old gasket.

Mitt's career in politics is over.

It's a mormon primary song. I remember singing it as a little kid. Such a long time ago.

I think McCain would want someone a little more "conservative" than ole Huck. At least I hope so.

The big news of the night is most people at the SLOG watch think that Sen Clinton should seriously consider a Clinton/Obama ticket if she's going up against McCain.

Unless she wants to risk losing.

Looks like I may have bet on the wrong horse last night, although it ended up being okay...

Here in Georgia, I voted for Mitt because I think he has the worst chance of actually being elected. Last night's primaries would seem to prove me right, although funnily enough, Huckabee won Georgia. I didn't see that one coming, but then again, that's what the bubble of a liberal neighborhood of Atlanta does, I suppose.
