It Occurs to Me…

posted by on February 7 at 11:15 AM

… that while the intent of being down here in Olympia is to demystify (an excellent word from my excellent past that needs to be revived) the legislative process for readers and voters, all my posts about tax-rebate bills and cap-and-trade bills and transportation planning probably aren’t making the legislative system all that accessible.

Pictures! Pictures! Pictures!

Here’s the center of campus, across the yard from the capitol building and centered between the senate and house office buildings:

Nothing important happens here.

And here’s the cafeteria:

Like high school, everything important happens here. Who’s sitting with whom?

Anyway, today’s coverage will come with pictures.

Oooo can you get me some shots of sausage being made too? I hear they are equally visually interesting.

Sausage can be interesting.

But if you're andouille interested, you just may have a problem.

I worked in the capitol building briefly, and I remember the old Senate cafeteria was amazing. I heard it was wrecked in the Nisqually quake a couple years later. Is the food still good?

What's the 1-800 number to get the Bill List again - the one I can ask them to send me Bills from and send messages to my legislators or a Committee?

We need more cupola shots.

What the hell is that giant pizza-like-thingy in the first picture, and what happens to the lucky one who successfully pulls the giant sword out of it?
