Visual Art Hitting the Road

onToday I’m flying south to see the Robert Irwin retrospective everyone’s been talking about. While I’m down there, I’m also going to check out the new BCAM, which got the art diss last week and the architectural diss this morning. (Watch Roberta Smith’s narrated slide show here.)
I’ll be back Tuesday with a head full of responses.

You know, they recently discovered a cure for the skin pigmentation disease Michael Jackson has.
Ain't science wonderful.
But not a cure for his attraction to monkeys and small boys.
i've seen that sculpture before at the detroit institute of art. creeeeeeepyyyyyy.
I agree brandon. I saw it at SFMOMA in 2001 and it's still all up in my head. There's something about the porcelain skin that just ain't right.
It's like Michael Jackson cosplaying as Mrs. Coulter from His Dark Materials.
Looks like a stunning show to me. If I lived in the area, I'd hustle over just for the chance to see the Basquiat paintings.
I saw this statue at the SFMOMA, and I LOVE it! It is so over the top, it's just amazing. If you have a chance to see it and have a love for kitsch, I highly recommend it.
Gah! That Michael Jackson/Monkey sculpture(?) has always creeped me out! I think it should be put to rest in Vegas somewhere!
