The ballard KFC has had chicken misspelled on their sign for nearly a week now. I’m entertained. I wish I would have taken a picture of the coagulated fat on top of the puddle in their parking lot during the last freeze.

Around 1991 or 1992, a Burger King opened on the Atlantic City boardwalk near my job and for months the vinyl awning had "Burger Knig" printed on it.

It's not misspelled - that's Chiken (r) - a patented genetically engineered chicken-like bird developped in a joint venture between Monsanto and the Department of Defense in the 90s. The fast growing featherless birds with easily separated joints seemed like the perfect solution to in-theatre food production, but during Desert Strom it was discovered that they were very susceptible to heat stroke and th patent was licensed to KFC.

@3. Yeah, I know. But they actually have a giant bucket, which makes me nostalgic. I used to live across the street from a KFC with a *rotating* bucket when I was a pre-schooler. I would fantasize about getting a ladder, climbing inside and going for a ride, a la the merry-go-round at the county fair.

After experiencing alcohol-related bed spins in college, the same idea still makes me feel nauseated...

I would say you were being overly harsh, but I imagine that the entire Stranger staff is immune to the charms of their Kentucky bred neighbors due to the persistent fumes/stench that must waft in their open windows on an hourly basis...

I suspect KFC staff have a city-wide policy on sign-misspellings -- the Queen Anne store also features consistently misspelled words. I noticed this a few months ago but haven't been able to do any more Seattle-KFC research...

When I was a kid I used to love KFC but something happened; either the chicken they used was no longer chicken or I grew up. I get sick thinking about it now.

KFC is to actual chicken what pollack-based "krab" is to actual crab. I've often noted the paucity of the pigeon populations in the blocks immediately surrounding all KFC's. I think "chiken" is just a code word for "pigeon."

Canadians love chiken.

Speaking of misspellings, I read the small print at the bottom of the signage at the SLUT stops yesterday only to discover that riders who mess with the Streetcar are open to "persecution."

@13 - what's the misspelling?

@14: It ought to be "prosecution."

@15 - Yeah, I know the word's wrong, I thought they were going saudi on our asses ...

1. The act or practice of persecuting; especially, the infliction of loss, pain, or death for adherence to a particular creed or mode of worship.

Last time *I* buy red roses for the SLUT.

This is the view off my balcony. In the summer with just the right breeze and a little bit of heat I can smell chicken all day long. I especially love the rust dripping down the bucket and the juxtaposition of the old logo right next to the new logo.

this slog is really full of liars and sheeple

most every body in America eats the chicken a few times a year.

and really - two thighs and a biscuit with beans are cheap and a fast lunch

and offers the same nutrients as stuff costing 50.00 at snotty places that take an hour to deliver any food

forgot I have to spend my millions where it is hipster approved - sure - and I love plain yougurt, no sugar, and cottage cheese spooned from the store container, some added salt and pepper

oh god, so not chic

#12 - with gravy.

Maybe they're a Chick-Fil-A in disguise. Eat Mor Chikin!

Should have also snapped a photo last month when it said "Thihg" instead of "Thigh" for at least two weeks.

The employees at that KFC habitually misspell words on their marquee either out of complete apathy for their jobs, a lack of the proper letters to use, or a lack of command of the English language.

Something tells me it's a three-piece combo, though.

That's the KFC near Sunset Bole and the Ballard Markit.

The KFC sign here in my Kansas town says "Tueday only chicken fried steak 1.99"

Still not sure if they mean "this very day" or Tuesdays. I doubt they do either.

Is it me, or does KFC universally hire the dumbest fucking people on the planet? I mean people who are too dumb to be Walmart greeters.

I hated going to the FW KFC because the people that worked there were either dumb as a brick, or gross. 1/4 of the time the bag was handed to me with stale chicken grease on the handles. And I really hate the prerecorded announcement on the drive through speaker. I want to make my fucking order, and now.

Thank Frank that placed closed.
