I don't care what you say; that is insulting.

That's it. I'm going to go find some ugly crap to glue together, give it a spiffy title, find some lame-assed gallery to hang it and call myself an "artist".

Jamey Braden rocks.
And she is definitely an artist.
Not that I have ever heard her call herself one.
Plus, she is a snappy dresser.

The only comment I have is"this is not painting" it is a sculpture.
I am so tired of artists calling their work drawings when nothing is drawn and paintings when there is no paint. If this was painted then it would be far more impressive but we are in an age of found objects and making art. There is tons of it out there. Some Artists are good at it but I see far too much of it. I get it but do not want to see much more of it any more.
Just because you can do this does not mean you should. It is not original or interesting anymore. 10 years ago when it was popular yes but not anymore.
I duno I guess I want to see the stranger art critic actually not like something and write that. Not post about every "hanging" as if it is something great. It is ok not to like something in fact it would probably do the art world a big favor to not like something and start filtering the redundant art out.
I went to see "Chris Jordan" in Vancouver last night. He is from Seattle and his work is worth talking about.

That's what I LOVE about Jen's "Currently Hanging" posts -- she offers no commentary. We have no idea if she loves them or hates them. They are merely presented as a survey of what's currently hanging in Seattle. I think it's been a great addition to Slog.

@7: I agree.

And this looks like a Tracey Emin that was stuffed into a trash compactor.

Yawn.

The only thing to 'get' about this is that it sucks.
