And Now A Few Words Not About Obama

posted by on February 5 at 11:01 AM

Hillary fans including Maria Cantwell, Jay Inslee, and Ron Sims will be talking about Clinton’s energy plan at the Machinists Hall in South Seattle this afternoon from 3:15 to 4 pm. Duh, this event was on Saturday—but the campaign just sent out the notice today… which I guess doesn’t bode well for Hils’ organizing team in Washington State. But this still holds true: For a good reminder of why any Democrat (even one who voted for a huge oil and gas giveaway in 2005) will be better on energy issues than Bush, go here.

Erica,

I want to make a suggestion in good faith, because I am an Obama supporter. Elections are usually won by a candidate that gives off a positive, future looking message, "new frontier", "compassionate conservatism", "bridge to twenty-first century".

So, part of Hillary's problem is that she give off an embittered vibe, "hillary haters", "republican attack machine", "false hope". And honestly, your posting exemplifies this.

In my humble opinion you could do your candidate a favor by being less bitter towards Obama and instead articulating Hillary's vision so we can all learn to appreciate it like you do.

erica, there is more pro hillary stuff on the page right now than obama. and the majority is by you.

I could kick myself for not investing in oil futures 7 years ago. It was so fucking obvious.

Are you an only child, Erica?
Cuz you sounds like someone who doesn't like to share her toys.

Is it too much to ask for a few words not about Obama, Hilary, caucuses, the elections... only there's something of a glut of information about that.

Erica, can I ask how old you are? I am asking in all seriousness with no snarktitude. I'm curious in terms of outlook, generation, age during the Clinton years, historical perspective, etc. Were you an undergraduate in the early 90s? 1991-1995?

That event was on Saturday Erica -- but it was GREAT. Lots of interested people, lots of sign ups to volunteer, and Senator Cantwell phonebanking for Hillary.

These posts have become tiresome. From now on I'll only check in on SLOG to read up on game nerds having sex with their girlfriends.

i was going to say it, but emma@8 beat me to it. it was a really great event, and very informative. hillary's energy plan is pretty stellar and full of that hope for the future that so many people seem to think hillary and her supporters lack (lots of incentives for green collar jobs, manufacturing and whatnot). anyone on the fence who missed that event can read about it on her website.

I remember how, in eight years, we never saw any real action from Clinton on shifting America from a dependence on the Clinton-backing oil, coal, and gas industries.

Results matter.

Why should we believe them now?

So, which is worse? Voting for Cheney's energy policy or naively voting to give GWB the authorization to attack Iraq in which hundreds of thousands of people have been killed?

I'm tired of hearing women whine about all of the supposed Hillary bashing. If she's nominated, you ain't see nothing yet.

Erica isn't helping herself or her candidate. ...You should spend some time trying to help Sound Transit draft a plan that would pass whenever it's on the ballot again.

Great post. Thanks, Erica, for presenting alternative views to the bizarre Obama myopia.

Erica,

Was that email from her campaign itself? Maybe it was from a third party? I ask because I'm on the Clinton email list and I received an announcement regarding the event on Friday.

Please focus on getting Hillary elected. Stay as far away from ST as possible. I'd like for them to come up with something that I can actually see myself voting for.

I almost want hillary to be the nom so i can laugh at mike in pioneer square when she loses by double digits in the popular election. i'll be fine, I'd be voting mccain.

Everyone's predicting Sen Clinton will win NY and all the eastern states on Super Tuesday by 75 percent to 25 percent margins.

Even the GOP has her winning Cali by 10 points.

Bellevue Ave - Yeah, if Obama gets the nomination we'll see how well he does against McCain (assuming he'll be the Republican nominee as it appears now). In that case, Obama will lose by double digits.

And do people seriously think that Obama wouldn't get bashed in the general election? Hillary is the veteran of many battles. I trust her to weather the political storm far better than the weak, toothless Obama.

No, we know Obama will get bashed by the Republicans. However, he does very well with independents unlike Hillary. We know she has a 48% Unfavorable rating--even higher in some Red States and Swing States. Obama is betting on the unknown factor because we know Hillary has such a tiny, narrow margin to play with. There are very few voters out there with "no opinion" on Hillary Clinton.

Well, this is an obvious indication that those campaign workers are sexist hillary haters and are trying to sabotage her by sending invites to events after they happen.

where does the strawman of "his supporters dont think he will be attacked" come from? we know he will. we arent worried about it. that happens in every election.

Obama can stand back just fine and let Grampa Walnuts rant and rave and scream... and then make a great speech, and appeal to all those waffling independents. Which candidate is more likely to offer change, here? The Bush-hugger? Obama can hold his own.

The truth is if Obama could hold his own on debates he would do at least one more debate with Hillary alone. I believe he is worried of the great debater that she is and she always wins over undecideds and even independents. The truth is when it is a McCain vs Hillary. Hillary will come across fantastic and they will overwhlemingly support her. Speaking truth to power. Obama isn't telling moveon.org that they can't raise money for him as a special interest. Special interests are only bad when Hillary clinton gets funds from them but not when it is golden child Obama. Give me a break, ten registered lobbyists bundling money from you and you don't take money from lobbyists? WAKE UP AMERICA SCRATCH THE SURFACE Obama is a well oiled rhetorician banking on Washington to support him on blanket messages and false negative attacks on his opponent. I am glad Hillary pumped her own money into her campaign it shows her commitment to this country. I no plenty of imdependents who won't support lightweight Obama vs MCCain. He is not tough enough on honeland security and if he really wanted to prove he is tough enough to take on the Republican's he should accept Hillary's offer to do another debate or two. Obama what are you scared of????????
