I don't know if the original link has been edited, or if my browser was just being freaky, but " http://slog.thestranger.com/www.letterto710kiro.com " is still in my history. If I could delete my previous post I would, but since I can't, this is the explanation for it.

no way i'm signing it; no mistake made by relegating mr. whiny voice back to blogsville. besides, slog is nobel material in comparison to horsesbunghole. (not to mention a better progressive-esque voice.)

misrule - don't forget that Goldstein gave up an hour each weekend of the measly six he got to giving voice to reporters from The Stranger, in his "The Stranger Hour" on Saturday nights. That's toast now too because of this. I signed and I urge others to do so as well. If this doesn't influence KIRO, perhaps AM 1090 will consider that there is a market for live local talk somewhere in their lineup.

Geez - where does an audience fit in?

I quit Goldy's blog, it is so, so crappy. And his shrill radio manner was a turn off too. No callers, no audience, that is the breaks. He needs to get a job ... doing .... used cars? In Duval?? Fall City??

You like him Dan, give him $1,000.00 a week as a writer/blogger/podcaster/video persona - the test.

( he might be a little hairy and too old for your personal taste, but he does have a lot of ideas and energy, properly molded and edited ... who knows )

Comment by Goldy

Earl... Um... if ill wishes were horses, trolls would ride.

In fact, my ratings were decent and steadily ticking up (with zero promotion), and my spot load had been full for months. KIRO weekends was #3 in the market for the fall book.

You're welcome to your opinion about my show, but not to your own facts. Can they make more money doing reruns than paying me? Maybe. Time will tell. But they were most definitely not losing money on my show.

I had to listen to him last year when the power went out for a week and I found him boring and his voice was irritating. He was your typical quasi-liberal who had nothing interesting to say other than the Democratic party line. Add to that the incessant commercials on 710, and I'm glad he's gone.

No one listens to radio anymore anyway. Podcasts maybe, but not radio.

I don't even care if it's Goldy there or not -- what I care about is that KIRO keeps reducing their live and local hours and filling it with reruns and syndication. I don't want that. I can get syndication from my satellite radio. I want live and local.

brandon h - I'm with on the nobody listens to radio, but instead they listen to podcasts.

That's what I did. For the 18 months Goldy was on the air, I didn't have the time to listen to the show live, so I recorded the live audio stream and listen to the show on my MP3 player.

But that's not possible now the show has been canceled, leaving pretty much nothing but you typical wingnut spouting nothing but Republican talking points. Is this Seattle or is this Provo, Utah?

Has anyone noticed that KIRO AM is no longer providing podcasts of anything?

I could be wrong, but I think that this "demise of Goldy" thing (I was an avid listener, BTW) is possibly much larger than Goldy. It smells like some over-all management shake up.

Could this be?

How often in 18 months did you listen to the Stranger Hour?

Why don't you host a show? That would be fun.

The Stranger was well represented on Goldy's show. I actually have tracked every show, and have all the recordings, and can tell you that Josh Feit was a guest 22 times, Erica C. Barnett 12 times, Dan Savage 2 times, Eli Sanders 4 times, and Jonah Spangenthal-Lee 2 times. There were a scattering of other guests from the Stranger as well.
