Youth Pastor Watch

posted by on January 16 at 9:15 AM

Arizona:

“Think about getting hit in the stomach unexpectedly and getting the wind knocked out of you.”

That’s how Pastor John Anderson describes his congregations reaction after one of the East Tucson Baptist Church youth ministers was arrested for several sex crimes. Anderson said, “Shock, anger, denial rationalization, all of those are taking place right now.”

Taking place because Christopher Decaire was arrested on Friday and charged with nine felonies. He’s accused of sexually molesting a 13-year-old girl from the church….

This is the search warrant officers served the church on Friday. It shows police got swabs of Christoper Decaire’s mouth for DNA. Other evidence they looked for included pieces of flooring, couches, curtains and other furniture found to contain biological material when viewed with a forensic light source.

Police say those materials would indicate they suspect some of the acts of abuse occurred at the church.

Well, old men in the bible married 13 year old girls all the time. What is the problem? Jesus says it is a-okay. At least it was not an adult guy he was fucking around with. We'd have to stone him then.

I know the pastor and several members and met the youth pastor at an event over the summer. Everyone is truly shocked and doing everything they can to support the alleged victim, her family and Chris' family.

The church's SUnday attendance is around 125 and they have been struggling a bit. Hopefully this will make the congregation closer and not tear them apart.

Cato: Whatever was "ok" in past/other cultures is irrelevant. It's not ok here and now. What matters is that all of the people involved are hurting and how we handle it.

@ 2 It was a Baptist church so I am assuming that they Pastor was blasting anti-gay and other moral garbage each Sunday during his sermons so I could care less if the congregation is torn apart. Why? Because you folks will not wake up when anti-gay hate is being preached by the REAL evildoers. How about going after the real “evil,” all the preacher peds out there?
If the church is socially liberal, like some Baptists Churches are, then my apologies.
