Director Terry Gilliam has a long, complicated history of his movie projects suffering catastrophic disasters. There’s even a documentary about it: Lost in La Mancha.
His latest? He is in the middle of filming The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus starring Heath Ledger.
In the good old days of Monty Python they could have just cut in during the middle of the movie and said "Due to the untimely demise of Mr Ledger, the role of X will be played by a haggis."
Now I don't feel so bad that this was also my selfish first thought when I heard Ledger had died. Gilliam is the Job of cinema. And Ledger did such a great job for him in BROTHERS GRIMM, too.
Yes...when I heard this morning (Australian time) that Heath Ledger had died, one of the first things I rememebered he was doing a Gilliam film. The curse indeed lives.

Tideland was an absolutely terrible film. As such, I was skeptical about Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus. But now Heath Ledger is dead, and I find out he was attached to the film, and I think, come on, it can't have been THAT bad!
I'll be seeing you in The Dark Knight. Doesn't it remind you of Brandon Lee?
Aw man. I couldn't have cared less about Heath Ledger's death until I heard this. According to IMDB it's about a traveling theater co. and Tom Waits is in it? Now I'm annoyed.
I felt pretty shitty when I realized that my first thought following Ledger's death was worry about "The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus". I'm a HUGE Gilliam fan. Sure, Brothers Grimm sucked shit but every other film he's ever made is fucking brilliant (including Tideland you non-cultured swine). Ledger's death sucks for a lot of people but for some the number one disaster is that this might finish off Gilliam's career.

Possibly the most cursed in the industry.
And his movies SUCK!
@2
OH NO YOU DI'INT!!!
I love Gilliam's movies, but I was pretty sure that after Tideland, they weren't going to let him make another one.
Thank God we were spared the puppets in his Don Quixote.
Yes Poe, I did. And I meant it.
Jebus is mad at Terry for making a Robin Williams film that wasn't a crime against humanity.
Tideland was amazing. This is very sad.
SOME of his movies suck but quite a few are really good...but the man IS cursed.
I think Universal put a whammy on him after the whole brouhaha over Brazil...you don't fuck with the Black Tower....
@6, maybe you meant it, monkey. but you are just one opinion. what do the eleven others think?
Uh, you know Heath's dead, right? Yet another film that won't be playing soon.

@12 - very good idea.
#7 for the win!

@13: You did not just say that! Brrrrr....

lost in lamancha is totally heartbreaking. dreams washed away, etc. the curse lives.
Wow... so the curse is now claiming the lives of his actors? Yikes.

@11: I think that was the point of the post.
