it was so loud and idiotic
Yes. "Idiotic". I can think of something else that's "idiotic" right now.
What the fuck!?!? MY EYES!!!
How about some more positive pit-bull stories?
good lord. please no more
West Seattle? Then how are we gonna have it at the Blue Moon while I'm working? That's the only chance I have of showing up (or getting fired, I guess, but come on now...)
How about no to west seattle? Can we vote on this? Your own admission to the large flux of cap hill people to west seattle proves that turn out would suck at corner pocket.
Move the location and a ton of people to appease just a couple in west seattle? I'm thinking no.
Thanks for donating to Strangercrombie, but I'm not sure you're cut out for this particular task.
@6
Get real. Nobody in their right mind would set foot in West Seattle.
Seriously! As ECB pointed out, it's not even really Seattle.
@8
Thought Sloggers weren't in their right mind anyway. Just think, all the CapHill Sloggers could totally trash West Seattle and we'd still be talking about it in the year 2050. It might even be equal to the week the Denny Party spent here in terms of legacy material.
There's a "West" Seattle?
Redmond sucks, too!
The score so far:
No book recommendations, no food recommendations, a out of date movie recommendation, some bar in West BumFuk and "I don’t have much interest in music."
Are you sure you want to keep doing this? I suggest sparing everyone the further agony, taking the TKO, and moving on to something you're qualified for. Like drowning.
@13: Agreed. Though maybe less harshly.
@JMR: Why was it worth so much money to you for Slog privileges, if this is all you've got?
Did the Uptight Seattleite win the auction?
JMR, I enjoyed reading this more than anything else on the Slog today.
And the haters got to hate. Which makes them happy. Though they hate happiness. Which inspires more hate...
Must have, HS.
Um, JMR, at least plug your fave places.
Or recommend we all spend Saturday in Pioneer Square at the Obama Campaign Office grand opening - with some nearby good eats and such to accompany it.
But don't "not" post. It's bad form.
Paprika is kinda fun. It's that anime stuff all the kids are into.
When all else fails, go all 90s and post your manifesto.
If that's too long, then just ask the Slogosphere for cock shots.
Either way, you've got to throw in some pictures or you're gonna have a Slog riot on your hands.
uh, you're in New York right now? Why don't you just blog about that; I guess you're working but you could go out in the evening and have some adventures and write about that. Go to a museum, go to a show, hang out with people waiting in line to see Letterman; DO SOMETHING!! Anything is better than the dribbling you're giving us.
What a wasted opportunity.
Evidently the Stranger Shadow Cabinet is my lazy former roommate who sat at home all day watching TV and smoking bowls.
JMR: don't listen to haters. Its hard to slog. I did it for a day, and it's not easy.
Keep it up! What are your favorite books you think we should read? Favorite place to eat in West Seattle (if we ever leave the hill...)
west seattle? how does one even get out there by bus after dark? the 56?
Talk shit about us. Especially me.
umm.. anydangways.. takohachi been closed for awhile now and the new joint which seems miraculously bigger is called ..umm.. izakawa. or something like that ..it's a shochu bar which means it's got some minimal sushi offerings, a bunch of fried stuff, some noodles and a the largest offering of shochu and cocktails made with shochu that i've seen so far in this city. the hipster factor is still pretty low , because those children have a small adventure radius and never leave their neighborhood to check things out. although the japanese hipster kids fall up in there for their pre funk gatherings.
you would like it..
cheers
agree with the lucky #13 :)
At least JMR reminded me of a rare book about autos that i would benefit from rereading again, On The Road, an impetus for moi in travelling northwestward ho yo moons ago....now, how the hell do i leave.... many thanks to the TCRAFT crew (the qualified editors of the music scene) and Fnarf.
Ahoy
oh, and could someone pass along greets to Sea Weeks' Gavin Borchet. Working together for a year in the biotech racket was fun, and we rarely talked music!! Hooray for life!
Given that Takohachi is closed, I guess my next cheap eats pick is... Kabab House in Greenwood. Though it's not super cheap, really.
My colleagues at The Stranger don't seem to have a problem with my posts. I hate to out something Amy Kate said in a private email to me, but she said "ignore the commenters, that what we try to do" so I'll try to ignore the commenters.
Some of you have been very nice, thank you. I'm just very busy at work this week, then I leave work and go drinking and eating milkshakes and burgers and don't have internet access, so not many posts.
West Seattle does not want you or your kind.
Go to Renton or Lake City if you need to get out of your ghetto.
As for films... I'm off to Crispin Glover Live at Broadway Performance Hall myself.
@27
Kabab House? Go to Mr gyros across the street! The Gyro platter is awesome! 6-8oz of lamb/beef, basmati rice, greek salad, fresh hummus and 2 grilled pitas for less than 8 bucks after tax. Seriously awesome, but get it to go, and call in first. There are usually 3-10 people in line at any given time.
Sammy and his brother are my favorite business owners in GW. I don't even tell them my name when I call in my order, they just know it is me.
We own all of you

I can only hope that JMR's postings have been so hardcore that they have been routinely subjected to the Stranger's unforgiving editorial hand. Otherwise there's just no excuse.
Oh please no! I've just started studying the language they speak over there and I still can't read a West Seattle menu or order a cup of tea. Can you wait till I understand more of the language they speak over there? And I don't have a valid passport either. Oh and one last item, I understand there are lots of Lebisian couples in West Seattle, is that true?
@18 - have to agree with that, Paprika is a great film, very highly recommended by me and mine.
One of the hits of SIFF.
Don't know how I missed that in the lede.
hmmmm....not much respect from the Stranger staff, eh?
without US, this place would be as barren as Joan Crawford's uterus or the Las Vegas Monorail or The Seattle Weekly's blog.
and of course the staff love JMR's stuff...it makes THEIR posts look positively brilliant!
JMR, I actually liked this post. But what's this about never having been to a CONCERT?!! You're missing out on one of life's greatest pleasures: live music. "DJ events" are fun, god knows I go to enough of them, but you shouldn't judge all live music by that experience.
JMR - Your comment about moving Slog Happy Hour to West Seattle is your best work to date (love the picture!), but it is a horrible idea.
For the love of God, please do something in New York and write about it. You can always talk about how Seattle sucks ass compared to New York ... that's an old stand-by.
@12 Mr. Poe
I'm taking that as a compliment.
Night trips to West Seattle - simple, ride your bike over the low bridge - very little truck traffic at night and you get to see all the pretty lights of the harbor and experience the awesomeness which is our steel factory (when it's turning out hot red rods - that should appeal to a few CapHill folks).
FUCK YOU!!1!1one
Hugz~!
I love how people try to sell West seattle as this cool place. If it wasn't for the bridges, you'd just be the city next door.
The only cool thing over there is the steam aka the cloud factory. West Seattle sucks.
Hey JMR, next time you want to just toss around some money for something you aren't getting much use out of, why don't you just give me a call? I'll gladly take your money, and I'll even throw you a compliment or bone, your choice.

West Seattle is only good for littering. If you want to litter, go to West Seattle and let everything go to waste. It'll be hilarious! Nothing makes you laugh harder than dumping your kitchen trash out in West Seattle.
...maybe find a bike and purge some vomit all over the seat. The usual antics.
You're missing out on one of life's greatest pleasures: live music.
Yeah, I considered losing my "virginity" on this issue by going to see Dale Watson at the Tractor last year, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it.
Guys, give JMR a break! He's busy, and he's just being honest with us. God forbid we should respect that.
West Seattle is a safe haven from all the posers up on Capitol Hill... the uber-cool, faux hip, anti-everything but "look how funny it is that someone was murdered" crowd. Grow up asswipes. If I catch any of you on the Westside, I'll personally piss on you.
I'm feeling old; not counting going to see my dad's band when I was 2, I lost my concert virginity at a J. Geils Band concert...
yeah, Freeze Frame, baby!
@46, seriously? Do you think any of us that actually live in seattle want to come to your annex? No thank you.
Keep your polluted water, lazy people, and your safe haven... aka waffle house. We don't need you.
...anti-everything but "look how funny it is that someone was murdered" crowd..."
That made me laugh, SO hard!
For the love of God, please do something in New York and write about it.
Right now I'm hopping a bus to Atlantic City and I will NOT be providing a report.
WHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTTTTT!!1!
OMG I've had too much to DRINK for lunch agaiN.
Gang wars! Lazy Waffle Eating West Seattleites vs. Capitol Hill Litterers.
JMR,
Amy Kate says that to ALL the guest sloggers; don't feel special about it.
@46:
I've already personally pissed on W. Seattle - several times.
And isn't your neighborhood's motto:
"West Seattle - Hey, At Least We're White Center or South Park!"
@53 - Comte,
I think our slogan is "Hey, at least we're NOT Ballard." We actually like White Center and South Park - Georgetown, too. Isn't SODO the new underage hipster hangout?
I'd hang out in Ballard over West Seattle any day, so I don't understand the slogan. "At least we're not White Center" would make more sense.
In my defense, the context was important—-that was a note of support delivered after the first few comments of his tenure were REALLY mean. Slogging is fucking hard and fairly terrifying. Sometimes we have to avoid reading comments in order to have the nerve to Slog.
Most sloggers just treat this as a way to kill time before the ketamine kicks in.
There's people on here who COMMENT as much as and more than most Stranger staffers POST and a lot of people on here have blogs of their own...it ain't THAT hard, or THAT scary...And if this was a bad week for him, why couldn't the Stranger have been accomodating and let him SLOG another week when he could have donated more time to it?
to quote Sue Ann Nivens: "if you can't take the heat, stay out of my kitchen, dear..."
(ps...I find using lots and lots of ellipses helps fill up space and creates a nice dramatic...or comedic effect...)
@50 - Atlantic City. Even better, I've never been there. Please take some pictures of the boardwalk or the squalor. Or maybe a picture of the worst looking buffet that you can find. Anything.
I still want to know. Is JMR rich???
I can only hope that JMR's postings have been so hardcore that they have been routinely subjected to the Stranger's unforgiving editorial hand.
My first 15 posts were rejected because they didn't mention Barack Obama, but they finally relented.
I still want to know. Is JMR rich???
No. Believe me, I make sure the paycheck is deposited at the end of the month before cutting the mortgage check.
Sorry
I still want to know. Is JMR rich???
In fact, the reason I live in West Seattle is that I couldn't afford a house in any of the neighborhoods I'd rather live in.
So while I'm pimping West Seattle a bit, I won't defend it to the bloody death.
Please don't have it in West Seattle. I don't want to have to read Erica's account of how horrible it is to find herself in West Seattle yet again.
I wouldn't defend anything to the bloody death, except maybe South Park. Bitchin taco truck.....
