And I gotta say about the Sonics, I just don't care anymore. It's like mourning someone who already died and about whom you learn some nasty revelations once they're in the grave. And yet, I never stopped caring about the Storm.

For one thing, with all due respects to Ichiro, they only have the most dominant, dynamic, iconic, inimitable pro athlete in Seattle in one Lauren Jackson. With all due respects to Serena Williams, you could say Lauren Jackson is the most dominant, dynamic,... female athlete in the world.

For another thing, though, you just knew Bennett was always bluffing when he said he wouldn't split the Sonics and Storm. The man's a businessman, not a professional jackass who's out to undermine his own interests just to spite people.

So yes, wonderful news! And even better, they'll be staying at the Key, no doubt.

As for the NBA, well, between Paul Allen and Nate McMillan, Brandon Roy and Martell Webster, the Portland Trail Blazers are looking like Seattle South. Throw in that 13-game win streak and the prospect of Greg Oden coming on board next year, and it's hard to remember Seattle even still has an NBA team.
