I guess NYT finally heard Erica's complaint that they were ignoring Hillary. Oh well, she'll find something new to complain about...
I've seen this footage before but I just noticed something. What the heck is Romo doing when it appears Barber is about to be tackled on the goal line and endzone? He looks like he's trying to fake out the defense by throwing a fake pass a la Brett Favre. Then he goes in for a block. It just seems odd.
Am I the only one who thinks that Obama isn't going to get the nomination at this point? (And I am an Obama supporter) Maybe it is just me but it seems like we are going to have to deal with Hillary (which means I will vote for the Green Party candidate in November)
cato, that is a terrible idea. i'm not really a fan of hillary, necessarily, but i will vote for her in a sec if she's the dem nominee.
Agreed--maybe when she's done stabbing him in the back, she'll offer him the VP slot.
If Bill doesn't want it.
@4 I have to agree. Ideally, I'd like to see Obama get the nomination, but I'll take any Democrat over a Repug at this point.
Agreed. Hilary frightens me personally to no end... but she'd still get my vote if it came down to it.
Would Barack accept the VP slot?
@5, Bill is not allowed to be in her administration in any official position due to a law that was passed after Kennedy was in office. (It was done to prevent a something akin to Robert being AG under his brother)
AND Bill as VP would be a direct challenge to the 22nd Amendment. A challenge that would be resolved by a conservative supreme court.
@8, Hillary better hope and pray that Obama endorses her if she DOES get the nomination; let alone accept a position in her administration.
@3 - Oh. My. God. You can't possibly be serious. You dislike Hillary so much that you'd rather have another Republican President? You do of course realize that voting for a Green Party candidate sends no message, makes no statement, and is not virtuous, don't you? It's immature and unrealistic. This isn't a game, and it's not about your pride. Suck it up and vote for the (relatively speaking) good guys.
We've been through this before, no? Look what happened! Was it worth it?
@10: Just being snarky.
The character I play in real life is much better informed than the one you read here.
@11, You want me to vote for the Democratic nominee? Then give us a liberal candidate for once in our life times.
That's right, it's a horrible idea to vote your conscience.
As an African American, I am very displeased with the discourse between Obama and the Clintons. I don't mind a vigorous debate about the issues. However, the personal attacks are over the top. My family and friends in Ohio don't like it either. If the Clintons don't make some grand gesture to mend the rift, they will lose my vote as well as those of my family and friends. It will be crucial in swing states such as Ohio and Florida. Here is an example of how the African American community is feeling. http://www.ajc.com/shared/content/shared/news/stories/2008/01/SCBLACKS_DEMS27_COX_W9452.html?cxntlid=inform
come on man, barber was down, they just didnt blow the whistle.
for the record, i loathe the pats.
Econ geeks take note: Asia Times' impossibly prolific Henry C.K. Liu is back at it, with "The Road To Hyperinflation: Fed Helpless In Its Own Crisis".
Bill already said he wouldn't be VP if Hillary is at the top of the ticket.
If H. Clinton gets top of ticket, I hope Obama is VP. If Obama gets it, I hope Clinton is VP.
If either one was offered VP and turned it down, that would be very helpful to the GOP.
If either is VP, either one can still run for president after 4 or 8 years.
I can't think of any candidate for president who, upon not getting the nomination, turned down a chance to be VP.
please seme. barber was not down. he was being marion the barbarian. i agree--best play of the season.
Hillary will choose someone boring, such as Bayh. Anyone who expects otherwise is forgetting 2000 when Gore chose Lieberman to make himself look liberal and charismatic in comparison.
No presidential candidate wants to be outshone by his or her running mate.
Jonah, SeMe - enjoy the dynasty while it lasts. Improbable in the age of free agency, an NFL dynasty may not pop up before your alive eyes again.
I'm no huge Giants fan, but with no Tiki and no Shockey, look at that mild-mannered, adult baby Eli go to the Super Bowl! Coughlin, too. The face is still napalm-red, but I've actually seen a smile or two in past weeks, which I had previously believed impossible. Good for the Giants.
Perhaps I should save reading the morning news until the end of the day. There's just too many things to be pissed about.
If HRC and McCain get the noms, we're going to end up with President McCain. Why? Because enough people dislike HRC (like certain posters above) to not vote at all, or vote third party and plenty of independents like McCain, for some reason. (Case in point: During the NH primary, I can't even tell you how many people--total morons--said they were either voting Obama or McCain.) So we'll be in Iraq until I'm dead.
I'm delighted the pill prevents Ovarian cancer, which by the time it's usually detected is deadly. But what they never tell you when you go on the pill is that it can KILL your sex drive completely, which it did to me. Which is kind of besides the whole point.
And the pot thing...god damn it. I hope that when my generation takes over government we'll stop this nonsense. But I doubt it. I finally told my mother I smoke pot, mainly to control stomach pain that the doctors can't seem to diagnose. She was all for it, despite her long held anti-drug stance. I'd like to talk to more people about pot and the insanity of prohibition, but given that I want to teach, it could ruin my future prospects for a career with children.
See what I mean? Should have saved reading this until later.
Romo didn't just block somebody. He took out TWO would-be-tacklers. S-T-U-D! Also, I am in love with Jonah for posting the NFL highlights everyday (especially highlights featuring studly Cowboys)!
Agreed, Clint. But cyrusly Jonah, make a flip book (www.flipclips.com) of your re-re-re-posted Barber clip and then you'll always have it. :)
This isn't as good, nor is it about the Patriots, but still -
I'm an obama supporter
hillery leaves me VERY unsetteled
i'd vot for ANY republican other then gulianni over her
I'm Black and I've never liked Bill Clinton--DOMA, AEDPA, Welfare Reform, Ricky Rector, the list goes on.
However, at one point I thought that I might vote for H. Clinton if she got the nomination. But, at this point no way. I'm sick of her race baiting, and her lies. If she wins, I'll vote for Bloomberg, or the Peace and Freedom candidate.
And the truth is that, Obama is the only Democrat who has any hope of getting independants to cross over. The Clintons will lose the Presidency due to their reputation and dirty tricks.
