64? Some genius.
Posted by Mr. Poe | January 18, 2008 8:46 AMPlus, there is no way that guy is not the killer.
Posted by Mr. Poe | January 18, 2008 8:56 AMbased on article's description of bobby's political views and social skills, the label of idiot savant seems more appropriate than genius. i had no idea the guy was so wack.
Posted by ellarosa | January 18, 2008 9:00 AMTo the Clinton fans: You may be all for the political-royalty establishment candidate and all, but you have to admit that this Hill-Bill one-two punch routine basically double-teams on Obama. Would Hillary be where she is in this campaign if she didn't have Bill's star power on her side?
Yet Obama continues to hold his own, without all of Hillary's benefits. What's that tell you...?
Posted by K | January 18, 2008 9:18 AMIs there a reason why we can't keep crazy people supervised once we know they are crazy? Does it work to set them loose again and again hoping they will get better?
Posted by elenchos | January 18, 2008 9:20 AMWhen they say "tax rebates," aren't they really saying that they're going to borrow zillions more from the Chinese so that we can in turn buy more Chinese products?
They should just give us all a 100% tax cut and end this sick charade.
Posted by Original Andrew | January 18, 2008 9:27 AMThe only reason I'm sad about Bobby Fischer dying is that we won't get to hear about any more of his insane shenanigans.
Posted by Gitai | January 18, 2008 9:41 AMelenchos: Make sure you differentiate between "crazy" and "violent." Mentally ill people are rarely violent. People with violent histories and meth addictions, like this guy, are a different story.
Posted by boop | January 18, 2008 9:55 AMLot of gloomy stuff in the News this morning.
Posted by kid icarus | January 18, 2008 10:12 AMOk, “Bush stimulus plan?” Umm, eewwww.
Posted by Original Andrew | January 18, 2008 10:13 AMAn even better idea would be government issued, gold-plated shopping carts. That way we’ll all have somethin’ fancy to push down the street on the way to our flophouses in Bushville.
@11 If we're lucky they'll toss in some imported government cheese!
Posted by It's Mark Mitchell | January 18, 2008 10:17 AMThrow in some circuses and you've got a deal there, Mr. Prez.
Posted by tsm | January 18, 2008 10:21 AM(Just to be clear, I didn't mean liberal and stinky Euro cheese. I mean good, cheap, lead-based Chinese cheese.)
Posted by It's Mark Mitchell | January 18, 2008 10:23 AMFree money? Now I can pay back that payday loan and stop paying that $170.00 a month interest on $600.00 to Moneytree.
Posted by Rebate? What Rebate? | January 18, 2008 10:42 AMpersonally, i prefer the GHB-based chinese cheese.
Posted by brandon | January 18, 2008 10:48 AMDr. Phill is annoying. He just wags his finger at people and pretends to be a mental health expert. Ms. Spears is less annoying than McGraw.
Posted by Heather | January 18, 2008 11:01 AMthat "dr" phil story makes me hurt.
Posted by infrequent | January 18, 2008 11:58 AMhasn't bobby fisher been 64 for the last 30 years?
i guess chess nerds just SEEM old, despite their actual age.
Posted by michael strangeways | January 18, 2008 12:37 PMThis Morning's News Recap forgot this:
124.7 Million - Final Cost to City of Seattle Monorail Authority
Posted by NapoleonXIV | January 18, 2008 1:18 PM@6: If it's like the last time they gave a "rebate," it's really just an advance on your income tax refund. Last time a lot of people were ticked off in April when they realized they were going to have to pay it back.
Posted by Orv | January 18, 2008 5:53 PMAccording to the Seattle Times, the police 'bust 14 year old prostitutes' all the time. Don't they mean 'rescue'? Oh no, they don't.
