I would love to see a convention where something is actually decided, rather than the self-congratulatory, masterbatathons of the past two decades.

I would agree with your friend... except that the media has already done a great job of running the three most-experienced D's out of the race by providing almost non-existent coverage, and has effectively created a two-person race on that side.

Meanwhile, they're trying as hard as they can to get the R's side down to a manageable three-man race, so that they can push it towards a binary finish as well.

That's not really inspiring for democracy and nationwide vetting. It's really more like being asked paper or plastic at the market.
