Peggy Noonan: For George Bush before she was against him.
Peggy Noonan is a stupid bitch. I didn't even like her when I was a conservative. She clings on to her Reagan years and mentions Reagan more than you mention boners.
Yeah he might have broken the party AND the country, but by GOD he's made alot of money off the Iraq war and we all know America is about making money. He won't spend one night in jail for any of it.
The first quote shows the absolute adoration she had for GWB. The reasons for her adoration - not clearly articulated - but can be construed from the quote:
Big Man, Republican, War hero
In fact, he never was in combat and avoided Vietnam. Sent us off to fight in the wrong place (Iraq). My favorite analogy is that if Bush was in charge during WWII - after Pearl Harbor, we would have attacked Brazil.
It is this shallow thinking that represents the lack of jounalistic intergrity.
Good catch of the hypocrisy here - her hero is now her scapegoat. What changed?
You would too, Mr. Poe, if, like Peggy Noonan, your years with Reagan were the only years of your life that were interesting or valuable, and you knew and everybody else knew too, that they were twenty years gone and never coming back.
In other words, you nailed it. She's a damn fool. That first quote is just embarrassing. It's not just the stupidity, it's the hormonal schoolgirl quality of the stupidity. She's ALWAYS been like that -- politics to her is all about whether the captain of the football team is going to ask her to go steady or not, and what she should say if he does.
Thank God for Peggy Noonan. She continues to provide indisputable evidence that Republicans are retarded.
Republicans have to denounce Bush now so that they can pretend that a new figurehead would somehow achieve better results. They want to focus on the person and his "leadership" qualities (i.e. his qualities as an individual) to avoid discussion of the fact that it is the policies enacted by this administration that have led to disaster on every front. Now that the economy is officially back in the shitter (after the "recovery" propped up by the housing bubble has evaporated) they are seeking to lay the blame on Bush the unlikable individual and not on the warmed-over Reaganomics that remains the GOP's central plank, the same Reaganomics that have led to recession every time they've been applied anywhere.
Many Democrats could give them lessons in this. Bush is so easy to loathe that people forget that he's just a guy in the suit selling the policy to the public, not the architect of the ongoing debacle. A better, slicker Republican spokesman would still be shilling for the same basic ideas.
Don't give Mr. Poe too many props.
After all, he still adores Ann Coulter.
That's a secret, you sack of shit!
Wait, I think I already disclosed that once. Never mind.
Oh yeah, I said it.
Dan hit this nail on the head when he pointed out how the Christians are now saying GWB wasn't ever "really a Christian."
They sold themselves out. They're now coming to terms with the price they got. It would be painful to watch if it weren't so much fun.
Remember the first time someone broke your heart?
this is a woman who TRULY BELIEVES that God sent dolphins to rescue Elian Gonzales.
"Our Lady of the Dolphins"
Ahhh, hypocrisy. Tasty. Should be more like Our Lady of Perpetual Guilt for having been a party to inflicting him on us for eight years.
Peggy Noonan is a dildette. Always has been. Always will be.
The "thousand points of light" lady wrote for Daddy Bush. She thought he was the new Messiah as well.
She was given way more gravitas than she deserves when she had her short-lived run on PBS. PBS put her on to hush the rumblings of a Republican Congress about PBS's lean to the left and the government funding therein. PBS started licking Republican ass (it still is trying).
Want to get me to turn the channel right away? Give Peggy Noonan an interview or put her on a panel discussion about anything. She belongs in a column on the back page of Town & Country.
What Bauhaus said and more.
She's like the creepy student body vp that does the footbal qb, the basketball center and the senior class president with the new Chevy hardtop.
I don't think we're giving Bush enough credit for his historic accomplishment--not since Jimmy Carter has a pol single-handedly destroyed his entire party.
Of course it didn't hurt to have folks like P Noonen doing the selling early on.
This is a trick, and it's not funny. Blame the man and not the party. She's a little late to get the memo, most Republicans started this distancing after the 2004 election. Anytime they get to play this game without hard questionning is a gain for them.
Republicans need to be forced to discuss the changes that would be made with a new Republican adminstration. There aren't any. It would be just another four years of destroying the republic. This isn't a concession, it's a calculated political strategy to buy four more years of corruption and political favors.
The Republican party is the party of George Bush, and there's no way they should be allowed to try and separate the two. They've had their cake, and being Republicans, they just want all the cake and poor servants/slaves.
This is bullshit. I want less of this calculated distraction, and more concern about Diebolt voting machines.
Actually, I think that's "dilda", as in "latino, latina".
Yeah! Just like Gore tried to distance himself and the Democrats from Clinton, when everyone knows that the Democrats have always been (and will always be) the party of Clinton. (So let’s just get on with it and coronate his consort already…)
Peggy is an amoral sellout who wants to keep slogging her well-crafted hate speech even after the Red Bushies are washed from America by the oncoming Blue Tidal Wave.
Read between the lines of what she says, she has lots of code phrases in everything she writes crafted to pollute your mind with her poisonous anti-American thoughts.
Love it when you come up with a Jon Stewart bit, Dan!
The best thing about The Daily Show is when they have a series of clips showing the ongoing 'changes' and stupidity of public figures.
You nailed it here - it's the sort of *news* most of us can't find on our own. The sort of thing that truly educates...
"...While the American left is content to see an Iraqi dictator terrorizing the Iraqi people, the Bushies in D.C. are not. 'We do not intend to put American lives at risk to replace one dictator with another,' Dick Cheney recently told reporters. For those of you who were too busy making papier-mâché puppets of George W. Bush last week to read the papers, you may have missed this page-one statement in last Friday's New York Times: 'The White House is developing a detailed plan, modeled on the postwar occupation of Japan, to install an American-led military government in Iraq if the United States topples Saddam Hussein.'
These developments--a Republican administration recognizing that support for dictators in Third World countries is a losing proposition; a commitment to post-WWII-style nation-building in Iraq--are terrific news for people who care about human rights, freedom, and democracy."
--DAN SAVAGE, October 2002
Dan is intelligent enough (and open-minded enough) to let facts change his mind.
Cheney is not.
Now, I am hoping that Dan will eventually be able to see the good side of dogs ;-)) Maybe DJ will teach him.
